Whats in the black case/box with the green hexagons?

How's the movie look in 4K?

I can't wait to get the boxset when it's available. I really wish they would include English subs on the release.

That case contains five character art postcards, which along with a custom slipbox make up Amazon Japan's exclusive 3.0+1.11 bonus items.

edit sorry realised this probably should have gone in anime questions that dont deserve their own thread thread i can delete and repost there if needed/better so i'm obsessed with going to the cinema at the moment, trying to see what i can whenever i can for anything that interests me, and end of evangelion is getting a screening in my city on a date when i'm out of town...i never finished the series when i started it years ago but got it on BD with the intention of doing a proper watch through at some point...now i'm tempted to run through it in 10ish days before i have to leave town, and then book train tickets to make it to the screening back in my city and then duck back out of town to where i'm supposed to be...no idea when another screening might come along, (maybe in a few years when it'd be 30th anniversary?) any one have input whether this would be a crazy idea? i assume its perfectly do-able to watch the 26 episodes in 10ish days but would it be better to take it slower and be able to digest it all properly rather than rush it? would it be worth seeing EoE in the cinema (i assume yes for anyone that likes the cinema) even with the 2-3hour journey time to get there..?? am i mad?! any input appreciated!

The Movie looks great for what it is. The little package is just some art cards exclusive to the Amazon release.

I binged the entire series in under 48 hours a few months ago, but that was my second viewing. The first time I took it slower and I think it helps to give you time to ponder it.

character limit in 'about me' profile forced me to get creative so once you click on profile to view it reads as follows:

I find Evangelion to be very dense both thematically and subtitle wise, due to the large amount of dialogue. During my initial viewing, I watched several episodes twice to make sure I'd fully absorbed it before moving on the next. That having been said, ten days should be enough time to get through it depending on your schedule. Seeing The End of Evangelion on the big screen is a worthwhile opportunity.

My initial thoughts on the Korean steelbooks:
  • 160,000 KRW (about $120 USD currently) for all three before shipping isn't too bad of a price, all things considered.

  • It's interesting that they're keeping the Rebuild color theme (1.11 = Red, 2.22 = Orange, 3.33 = Teal) on the outer slipboxes' logo text, but then using the color scheme of Units 00-02 for the steelbooks themselves. Sounds good in a vacuum, but upon seeing its execution in the 3D renders I just don't care for it. It also shows a lack of foresight regarding a potential 4th steelbook for Shin Eva, as the Rebuild color theme for that movie is white (which would be invisible on the white slipcover) and there's no obvious choice for which other Evangelion unit should be selected as the basis for the steelbook's color either.

  • It's also disappointing that the newest "3.333" revision of the third movie isn't included, especially given that it's not a repackage of the existing "3.33" disc (since a Korean dub is to be included on the steelbook version). Let's just hope that pattern doesn't hold when the US Blu-ray rights are eventually made available for a license rescue.

German publisher LEONINE Anime will re-release the first three rebuild movies 1.11, 2.22 and 3.33 on DVD and BD. They will include subs and both dub versions, the old one (first dub) and the new one (Amazon dub).

At least it seems that they have "wendecovers" (i.e. reversible cover art) so that the FSK ratings logos don't completely ruin their shelf appeal once purchased.
