There's definitely a cutoff somewhere, but I think in people's minds it was higher. Even an MSRP of say $120-130, which would drop it to ~$90-100 at stores would probably have still resulted in many people being happy with that price. Consider that they're pricing it the same as their Giallo Essentials sets, which are almost all just old re-releases packed in one box, while these are new BD releases for Arrow, packed with extras, plus an 80 page book, posters, and other swag. I think people are used to paying more for such a set from a boutique label.

People in the UK thread are guessing it most likely has to be a Chucky (if it's actually anything at all). Would be strange given that SF already released the first 3 in the US, and possibly more coming from them.

You could check the date of the last post. Usually if it says anything prior to "yesterday" it's not worth clicking (unless you really were away for long).

"April Fool's! You've already read this thread!"

(I just got here, pardon if that joke was already made).

Hoping that the Empire boxset pre-order lasts longer than a week. One of the more exciting things Arrow has put out in a little while.

Does Fox still actually have Porky's?

The streaming versions all say "currently unavailable" on Amazon Prime.

Being in Canada I can only access the Canadian listing on itunes but it's credited to a company called TVA Films and not Fox.

Can anyone check the info on the US itunes page? Curious.

Porky's doesn't show up for me in iTunes or VUDU in the U.S., and it's "currently unavailable" on Prime Video.

I do see it for sale/rent on Google Play and YouTube. The former doesn't list a studio; the latter just says "Under The Milky Way TVOD"

A UK only Child's Play release is certainly possible. The only argument I would make against it is that Arrow hasn't released a big MGM title in the US or UK in a long time. Their current deal seems to be focused on these more "minor" former Shout! titles.

The Porky's films are independent Canadian films. If Fox let the rights lapse and they are with this TVA Films it would seem the more likely candidate to me. It was already an Arrow release (OOP) and they have supplements created. TVA Films aren't going to release anything themselves and look to license them to another label for physical media.

It's really between these two, IMO.

I posted this in the UK thread, but since we're discussing it here also here's my thoughts.

Somewhat curious that Altered States has 'arriving soon', whereas the others have 'coming soon'. Does this mean anything? I recall rumours that Altered States was with Criterion, but I can't recall the source. Is a Warner deal for Arrow out of the question? Arrow have dealt with them before, even on a limited basis. In terms of specific arrangements, obviously Ken Russell is no longer with us so it would be a bit different to Alice Sweet Alice and Cruising, where the intervention of the director was key.

Child's Play is probably the obvious one, but at the same time a little unexpected given SF have done the first 3 and most probably have more of the series coming. Arrow has tended to avoid doing studio 4K UHDs of titles released by another boutique stateside. Also, the Chucky series is pretty big (7 films, plus the remake). A 4K UHD set sounds very expensive if they intend to do them all.

Your Porky's speculation is interesting ianungstad. If that is no longer with Fox it's definitely possible.

Finally, remember this? In the end we got everything, so maybe it's possible we're getting several of these (I think only The Omen can be firmly ruled out).

If it's a UK release of Child's play, i'll probably pick that up, despite having the SF releases. I'm a sucker for the Child's Play franchise, at least the first 4 movies. And if it gets a nice rigid slipcase, it would be hard to pass up on.

Altered States needs a definitive release so that’d be cool

Tbh I reckon purely because it gives them the opportunity to use the distinctive 'A' from the Altered States title. Otherwise peeps might not've recognised it.

My guess is that either we're getting a UK-only Chucky set OR Arrow have pulled a total chad move and managed to acquire all four titles, which would be crazy exciting as it could open the floodgates for more boutique-obtained WB and Disney/Fox titles over here.

I think a boxset is unlikely. If they do anything it will probably be just the first film. While it's been done before (with Chucky even!) multi studio boxsets don't happen very often. The first is MGM with the rest being Universal.

Altered States would be the one that would excite me the most but I'm not really expecting it.

Also what's with all the Porky's hate in the UK thread? It's a legit good movie.

Thing is though, if you feel you have to do that (and I suspect you may be right), why even do Altered States at all? The other three are instantly recognizable in terms of the poster font (and I think it's fair to say the films/franchises themselves are better known, as much as I love Altered States), so Altered States does strike me as the odd one out, which makes me think it's somehow got a shot. We'll see.

An Arrow release of Altered States would make me soft and milky.

Maybe Arrow has plans to release a 4k edition of Child's Play (2019)...

I just ran into someone on eBay selling a Giallo Essentials: Blue Box Set which seems to include: The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion, Death Walks on High Heels, and Death Walks at Midnight. All previously released films by Arrow Video. When did this get announced? I can't find any reference to it anywhere besides this eBay listing. Is this a weird case of someone selling a set pre-release/announcement or is this some sort of weird fan-made bootleg?

The weirdest part is, the copyright and details on the underside are completely correct.

Whilst I can’t find any record of it existing elsewhere, if it is a bootleg it’s the most competently made bootleg I’ve ever seen

Any updates on that Coffin Joe set? Waiting for it to finally materialize is getting really frustrating.
