I think there's something to be said for the idea that license contracts have labels lock things because they can, but for UHD the same licenses can happen without that restriction being available. After all it's not like no Arrow UK releases are region-free, as many are, and the same for Twilight Time US releases and whatnot. Labels like Kino have basically said they lock everything to avoid doing overseas customer support, rather than because all their contracts insist on it. In other words I think people are jumping to conclusions that just because there's no region-coding on UHD a label couldn't do a single territory license.

Anyway, as Geoff says, the barriers are more cost and waiting for more players to be out there. Arrow said that themselves on Twitter, I believe, and did not mention region-coding.

Hi Matthew, Robocop is definitely coming in the later part of next year but there are no confirmed UHD plans at this time.
Well that confirms it'll be a late 2019 release, but doesn't quite confirm it won't be UHD.

Oh for sure, not every indie release ever has been locked but it still comes as a surprise that the likes of Universal and Warners (who were also major players in region-free HD DVD while it was still alive) are so intent on having their licensed product locked, so I was just spitballing why.

As I alluded to, if MGM actually bothered to release some of their own product in 4K via their current distribution deal with Fox - woah there, what a crazy notion - then a lot of these discussions wouldn't even be taking place, we'd possibly already have 4K Rocky and Robo and Terminator and Silence of the Lambs and Princess Bride and all sorts of other goodness. TBH I'm still praying that another major buys up the studio, if only to dismantle it (it's doing no-one any good in its current zombified state) because at least then the catalogue might get the 4K disc treatment it deserves before the plug gets pulled on physical media.

That's honestly a good sign. Companies always say no confirmed plans until something is announced officially, and they're not denying it...

Sister Street Fighter would be amazing news. They have held the rights nearing two years it seems for the trilogy. Not sure, what the hold up is.

They know I want it, so they are deliberately keeping it under wraps.

Doesn't seem to match anything from the known list. Can't be just a hammer-related clue (either for Hammer or perhaps Fred Williamson), as they'd just show a Hammer surely. Someone suggested a Vengeance trilogy set, but is there any suggestion the rights were up for grabs? A new US release of The Toolbox Murders is also possible, as is a UK release of Hardware.

It could also be something for the next AHP set, any candidates?

That would be nice. I've wanted to own The Hitcher since I saw it way back when in the early 00s. I can't really remember much about it, just that it really felt like a portrayal of a nightmare in a way few other films have. Only Miracle Mile really provoked the same reaction for me.

In the UK thread someone suggested The Fifth Cord, based on Google Image Search saying 'Extension Cord'. This makes perfect sense given that we know Bazzoni's The Possessed is coming in February. Looks like another potential double feature.

I thought "Fifth cord" immediately, but there are only two there, and the hammer!
