Well, I just pulled the trigger on a Seymour AV screen 49.5" x 117" wide 2.37 electric screen. It should be here in 3-4 weeks.

So my goal for 2009 is almost complete!!!

The PJ mount is installed. The ISCO II mount is up, I took the lens off for now, waiting on the screen. The 2.37 screen will be in around the middle of next month.

The paint and other things might have to wait a little while, but equipment wise, I am getting that finished.

I might be upgrading my center channel speaker though.......

The new 2.37 (replacing a 16x9 Stewart firehawk) screen came in last monday and I have been to busy to get it installed. Hopefully it will go up this week.

I will post pics soon.....

Just updated the my gallery pics to show the new screen.

49" x 117" 2.37 electric screen from Seymour AV with custom 4" side black velvet borders (normal is two).I am trying to get it completely tweaked and I am finding that it isn't as easy as setting up a standard projection setup.

Standard 16x9 material is about the same size as my old Stewart Firehawk screen (106" diagonal) but 2.35-2.40 material is now an amazing 58% larger.

New screen up.

Updated my gallery. Added some new screenshots with the 2.37 screen.

After "tweaking" the mounting of the anamorphic lens and screen I have it pretty darn close to what I was expecting. If installing a normal projector setup is a level 5, installing an anamorphic setup up is close to a 10. It has been an eye opener. I am still amazed at how much positioning I have done with the lens itself.

Anyway, I am pretty happy with the final results. The only problem I have now is with the increase in image size, it is now throwing so much light on the walls (reflective), that I have convinced myself that I am going to need to repaint the room with darker colors. I have wanted to do this, but this will force my hand a little quicker.

I am trying to get used to the "look" of the whiter screen material. My last screen was a Stewart Firehawk and it just has a completely different image now.

Yes, it is the new XD material. Chris at Seymour was very nice and the screen appears to be a great product. I would like to find a way to "suspend" the case out from the wall about 2 feet so I could move the speakers behind the screen. I have some ideas, but that will take some engineering and explaining to my wife.

having the sound come from the picture is awesome, plus you can then add another tower for your center which gives the perfect soundstage, congrats.

That would be my goal, but at the moment I am considering just upgrading the center to the cc-690 v.5. It is essentially a studio 100 turned on its side.

If I had my ultimate setup, I would have 7 tower speakers. Of course then I need a dedicated room and about 60,000 to pay for it.

well, I just ordered the trim for the remodel today.

I am going to do some ambient light control (by blacking out the front stage with velvet ala: BrainSturgeon), new trim, sound absorbtion, new area rug and put the speakers behind the screen.

I am looking forward to the project. It is going to be a lot of work. I will keep the forum posted on its progress.

Well, I just added an Oppo BDP-83 last night.

So far it appears to be a great piece of equipment. I will run it through some more movies tonight, but I think it will stay in the rack.

"it has begun......"

The remodel started today with me doing some of the grunt work. I have removed all of the trim and tore out the front cabinets and shelves.

This is going to take some time, I will update from time to time.

Once you get everything set up again, I'd love to see a grills off shot of your soundstage. Everything looks great though, love your screen!

Awesome, Amazing, Original (!!), Incredible Job ALL-Around my friend. I Love the way the RED chairs & Couch really POP in the color scheme. At first, I thought they'd be Too much or too bright, but with the gold/black they look Great But I don't think that screen is quite Big Enough (only 49" x 117" ) for the room... Lol Good lord, that thing is frappin' Massive! I see you just have the One Sub for the whole room; is it That incredible of a performer that you only need the One sub with the other woofers in your fronts, or do you plan on adding another down the line? It's prob. enough considering all that I've seen for your gear, plus the SIZE Alone of it makes me think it kicks Major LFE Butt with ANYthing thrown at it. Lastly, I didn't see any pics of your Rears (for the 7.1) until the one shot of your Projector & I could see one angled downwards behind it.

Again, Outstanding Job dude - Have you christened it with STAR TREK or another movie to test out everything? If so, how does it all sound & look after all your hard work? One last thing: do you have a spare guest room...
