Looking at the posted link I think Paradigm is promoting the Packages but after reading Ryan Peddles's post a few pages back offering members in the GTA 25% off(offer also good til the 31'st) I think maybe dealers will be able to give the discount on speakers or subs separately without having to buy one of the listed packages. Ryan can probably confirm that though. 25% off is a very good deal. I still see some Paradigm speakers being sold used for more than what I paid brand new.

The sale is on the packages posted in the catelog on their first page. You have to buy the whole package exactly as shown to get the discount.

What I can see happening is that a dealer may have a sale that involves almost all of one package, orders it as shown and keeps the unwanted piece at a discount for later. I can see this happening with subwoofers more than anything else, but it will be rare.

Default 6ave selling v5 Paradigm Studios online..

Don't know Paradigm will honor the warranty but 6ave probably has their own.
v5 Studio 100's are selling for 2k for the pair!!

Info from AVS.. also gives a coupon code (AFL4COUPON) that will give you an additional 4% off. All would be under 2k shipped.

Studio 20's & 60's on sale as well... for cheap!! Sucks for Canadians though..

edit: Damn they sold out quick.. did anyone jump on these deals?

Hi frens,

I've been looking at the monitor line and the psb image line....

Paradigm Monitor 5.0 vs. PSB Image 5.0

Living Hall size in feet.

Length = 20’
Width = 15’
Height = 9’

Equipment:

Optoma HD65
Screen 110” or 120” Diagonal
Yamaha AVR RX V-450
Denon DVD 1940
Sub Woofer - SVS PC 12 NSD

I’m planning a new 5.0 setup for the above mentioned living hall as i already have the SVS PC 12 NSD sub.

The Setup will be used 100 % for Movies.

I ve narrowed down a few combinations..

1. Paradigm Monitor 9 + cc 290 + ADP 190

vs.

2. PSB Image T6 + C5 + S5

Yes i'm gonna go out and hear both of them.... ;-) However before i do that i realize that there a lot of fellow members here who own the above mentioned combinations....

And i'm also sure some have heard both the combinations....

I looking forward to hearing out your experiences and inputs... which one should i go in for and why ?!?

Thanks ;-)

Before I bought my Paradigm Monitors (albeit older ones) I listened to those same PSB speakers you plan to audition. I liked them alot. Good seperation of the highs, mid and lows, solid detail and excellent imaging in my experience. They were powered by a Parasound amp and I believe a Marantz pre/pro was doing the processing. When I listened to the Paradigms, I noticed alot of the same traits, with perhaps the Paradigms a bit more forward, but slightly tighter with the lower frequencies. Based on that, I decided to go with the Paradigms, but I happen to like a bit of a "bright" sound, and I knew the Paradigms would go well with my Pioneer Elite.

I find Denon to be nice, warm and excellent sounding AVR. I think you can't go wrong personally, as they are 2 excellent choices. When you do audition, keep in mind of what equipment is doing the processing and what amp is powering them, as this will effect the sound you hear there than what you might hear with your equipment at home. If you can pair up the speakers to another Denon without the use of an external amp, this might give you the best example of what they might sound with your set-up.

In the end, let your ears decide. Good luck and have fun!

No and I couldn't have either, although I want to! I'm sure it's with CES around the corner that they're anticipating the v6 line of Studio coming out?

I read on another site that that particular dealer is going to no longer be an authorized Paradigm dealer so they're getting rid of remaining stock at those awesome prices. Lucky for those who were able to score some.

However the Studio v5 was announced 2 years ago this Jan, so perhaps v6 could be making an appearance? Time will tell....

No plans for any changes as it stands. The new Studio line has truthfully only been around for 1.5 years and it sells like hotcakes, and sounds even better. Paradigm is simply adding things to the lineup this year like the new Millenia ONE and Millenia on wall subwoofer.

The Monitor series is a little bright, I guess a better way to say the highs sound HOT/Tipped UP. Detail is decent, about the same as many of the other $1000 speakers. I think in the price range of the M9s/M11s the Monitor Audio Silver RX6s and PSB T5/T6 have better detail in the mids and highs. The Monitor Audios and B&Ws have better tighter bass also. Sound stage is good, but I like the sound stage of the Energy CF-70s better, it sounds wider and deeper, the Monitors is a little closed in.

Overall the Monitors do a lot of things well... very typical of Canadian speakers. They are a very well rounded speaker in their price range. Its really what sound you prefer best.

No they should not be fatiguing at all... I think if you are familiar with Klipsch, then you will find they are more mellow then that.

i have read a lot of people saying that the SE series are better than the monitor and are close to the level of studio series.....

i went to the paradigm website to check them out.... they have only one size each in floorstander, bookshelf & center.

- the floorstander SE3 matches up in driver/woofer size to the monitor 7.

- the SE center matches up in driver/woofer size to cc-190.

- the bookshelf SE1 matches up to monitor Atom which i guess is intended to be used as surrounds since they dont have a SE equivalent to the ADP 190/390.

So heres the question....

Yes the se3+se center+se1 will beat the monitor 7+cc 190+atom.

But...

1. What room size can it fill....??? can it fill a room size which a monitor 9+cc 290+atom can fill....?

2. Can the se3+se center+se1 can give better quality than monitor 7+cc 190+atom in a small room but cant match the output of a monitor 9+cc 290+atom for a bigger sized room...??

What does a person do in a room size which a se3+se center+se1 cant fill...???

That all depends on your listening habits, how loud do you like to listen? I've gone through a lot of Paradigm speakers and I'd start with at least the SE series. I wasn't a huge fan of the Monitor 9 v6, cc390 setup I had. It lasted me less than a year, a little too bright and harsh at high volumes for my tastes. The Studio's have better power handling and to me sound a lot smoother.

Well it's that time of year for my to add to my system.

Before the end of the month I should be finally adding my CC690. But I am also thinking of changing my Sub12 to a Sub15. Any thoughts?
