Hello fellow Paradigmers,
A new set of Monitor 11 v.5's showed up on my doorstep today. Wooo Hooo. I auditioned them about a month ago and knew these were the speakers for me. Until I fully convert the other speakers in the HT I will be using them for 2Channel music.

Any suggestions on what I should set the crossovers at? I was thinking 40Hz with no sub.

Also, i've decided on the cc-290, however If you don't mind please chime in and offer any ideas/suggestions for the rears. I'm running 5.1 now and was torn between monitor 7/9's or the ADP-390's.

BTW, I am a Klipsch convert. My current setup is KLipsch KG3.2 mains, KG2.2/synergyc-2 center, 2way 8"subs in the ceiling and a SUB-12. Nothing against Klipsch, but the Paradigm sound better as I get older.

If you are using them for 2 channel i would set them at Large and 40hz. The 290 is amazing but might not be enough speaker for the 11's, paradigm recommends the 390 but for the price upgrade it might not be worth it, that's for you to decide.

Welcome to the Paradigm club.

I've auditioned the studio 10's v5 and all i can say is wow, i can't believe that much bass is coming from that little speaker. I don't think i would use them as main front's for HT but for a small 2 channel system for music they would be amazing, i almost thought they outperformed the monitor 7's with bass response.

Thanks for the welcome.

this is good to know, I'd like to get as many opinions as possible when I audition the centre and the rears.

Will the studios have the correct timbre match? Even if it is not as important for the rears.

Those newer (than mine) adp Surrounds look awsome. My older ADP surrounds soung great. I think you get a better distribution of sound with a speaker thats designed like the ADP vs the other option you mention.
Good luck

I am trying to decide between the new 10s and 20s with a 490 or 590, I have had a pair of 20s since they came out a million years ago and I still love them! I have a dedicated HT system with Mini monitors and a CC370 and am thinking of upgrading to Studios. Its a small space so anything larger for mains and centre would be overkill. I guess I'll have to audition both combos.

If you're just using them for 2-channel music run them full range.

Yeah I'm diggin the ADP's, its just a matter of savin up to get the center and the surrounds. I'm thinking cc-290 with the ADP-390's.

Does anyone in this threaad have experience or experinced the sound quality of the current line of In-walls? I am looking to upgrade from my current Boston Accoustic Sys 10K 7.1 set-up and was looking for ideas on the in-walls. Thanks in advance for any information.

I listen to almost all my vinyl with just Monitor 11v5's running full range and I often forget just how nice the frequency response is on them after watching movies and playing games with the Servo 15v2 handling sub-60Hz duties.

They are a really nice speaker, no doubt about it.

What do you guys think about Paradigm referance studio 20.
I can get a good deal on them and thinking they would make awesome rears

Any thoughts

http://www.stereophile.com/standloudspeakers/508para/

I could get two pairs for the rears and b-surrounds or get one pair and adp-390 for backs?

When they're recording studios out there using them as monitors, that says alot.
Just can't help but think they'll be under-utilized as rears. However that can be said about any quality speaker.
Keep in mind timber matched speakers all around is best. It'd be nice if you could get more Mirages for rears.
As for the 20's, go for it........great speakers!

Ive had the studio 20's for b-surrounds and rears for about three days now.

Ive always had the monitor series Speakers and i must say iam very pleased with my decision.they are some of the cleanest speakers I've had to date.
With my Mirages up front and Paradigms all back iam in heaven.

Like i said Ive always have been a Paradigm fan and these speakers are just beautiful and i thought the monitors sounded good (which they do) but there's no doubt in my mind the studio series is in a different class in my opinion

Remember iam still breaking them in

Never my friend, My speakers are exactly where i want them.

Iam not saying the 20's wouldn't sound good up front but at the same token i don't think you ever heard M-5si's with a OMC-c2 center It took me almost a year if not more to get my center i don't think iam ever going to give up my fronts LOL.Iam happier then a pig in sh*t with my speaker setup

I never thought i would say this but iam totally satisfied with all my speakers today . There all keepers in all the right places

I just picked up a 5.1 Paradigm set on craigslist. I got 5semk3's cc-100, atoms and ps-1000 for 500.00, shouldn't be bad for a second HT.
