I could of went Mirage for my backs in rears but iam selfish.I wanted Paradigm. The way i look at it is with Mirage and Paradigm i got the Best of Both worlds ![]() For the Record I will crank Crazy train just for you Guy`s (Album-Blizzard of Ozz) Last edited by ozzman; 03-31-2009 at 12:51 PM. |

I've read this thread a few times and thought I'd finally jump in.... after going through a few sets of speakers I've finally settled on Paradigms, and am slowly building together a theatre system... currently have a pair of Atoms to go with a polk 5 channel system (the atoms are the mains), and am trying to decide between a monitor 9/cc-290 setup or jumping into the studio line with 60s/cc490, both having the Atoms as rears....
Sorry, question... anyone know where I might be able to find any of the studio V4 lineup still, especially in cherry?? I am in London, Ontario, but am willing to drive most of southern Ontario... thanks!!! |

Just over a year ago I was a complete newbie to home theatre. I went to my local high-end AV dealer (after doing my pricing research) and told them, "I've got $10K, make me happy." I wanted to spend top dollar on my TV and AVR and then spend the rest on the speakers. I knew which TV I wanted and the Yamaha AVR was perfect for my needs. I really needed to trust them on the speakers, since I litterally knew nothng about them. What I ended up with you can see below in my sig. I really am enjoying the Paradigms. The one upgrade I recently did was to replace the ADP 190s with 390s. I think this was a good call.
If I could do it all again I would pony up the extra $$ and get the Monitor 11s. At the time, I didn't know they existed. Ignorance is bliss... I've been on the Paradigm web page and of course I have spent too much time admiring the Signature series. ![]() Last thing. I'm considering adding two more speakers to bring me up to 7.1 channels. The ADP 390s are behind me so I'm looking for the left and right surrounds. If you look at my gallery shot you can see that my "studio" is my living room. I'd probable have to put the new speakers near ceiling level. A concern I have with going to dipolars again is that one of the speakers would be sandwiched between two bookshelves above a window. Each being about 2.5 feet away from where I would place the speaker. The bookshelves come out just over a foot. I'm afraid that the bookshelves would "trap" the sound from the dipolar if that makes any sence. Perhaps a "regular" speaker pointing towards the "sweet spot" would be better. Any advice here would be appreciated. Cheers! |

Nice backhanded compliments for a speaker. Not sure what you're saying here? How does a speaker make a bad recording sound bearable? I'll say this about the 100v2. If it's in the source material, you're hearing it. Be it jazz, prog rock, classical.....etc, it's all good! If it's crap, you'll hear it as such. Keep in mind that a good country recording will still sound like crap ![]() I've never been fatigued by them(perhaps when lifting their 110lb weight) and they continue to thrill me. I'll agree that they require a respectable amp to perform their best. As for the later versions of the 100's, it seems I can only find reviews that praise them. |

I was also lookin at the B&W CM9's in the Black gloss finish - that's a bit closer at 200kms and my wife likes the way they look but we'll see what sounds better. If I'm happy with the sound Ill most likely getting Studio 100 v5's but that won't be for awhile. |

I've auditioned the new Studio 100's and all i can say is WOW, they will blow your mind, the detail is incredible and the low end is insane, best speaker i have ever listened to in the $3000 range. I hope to upgrade to them in the next year with the 690 and studio 10's as rears.

Oh. The studio 100s are very forgiving of bad records meaning they do not expose all the frequencies of bad recordings so listening sessions are enjoyable and pleasurable. The thing with true HI-Fi speakers is that the better the speakers are the more unforgiving they are of records. So you figure how bad recordings will sound on the signature series. ![]() Last edited by rded; 04-10-2009 at 10:43 PM. |

Go and have a listen to them. The Berrylium tweeters are in a league of their own. And while you're auditioning, you might as well play the field and check out other speakers brands.

A good desciption, I have used in the past, Paradigm's can be described as "laid back" similar to listening to a concert from the middle of the floor vs. "Bright" listening to a concert in the first row. Bright is very loud and tiresome to the ears "fatiguing". Describing Paradigm as Bright would be unfair. Forgiving??? I say detailed and accurate. I do agree that sound has a lot to do with perception and the indiviuals taste. |
