Cheers. Was curious about the Xbox X noise.

My PS4 Pro also sounds like a jet engine on crack when playing RDR2. Oh & the fan noise from previous big games have all started making the Pro kick up the fan noise since Horizon Zero Dawn launched. Twice the power & noise.

Reports are in that an X patch for ME Andromeda is dropping for N7 day. Weighing in at 1.68GB the game should now run in native 4K. Hopefully there's an announcement about the original trilogy at X018 this weekend. I'll take an X-patch but would love a remaster.

Looks like there is a new PS4 Pro revision and they do mention that they changed the fan profile in the SE console at the expense of it running hotter.

At some point last year, the platform holder released the CUH-7100 - which we took a look at recently in the form of the 500 Million Special Edition console - which seemed to change the way the GDDR5 memory was cooled, and tweaked the fan profile to be less obtrusive. The system still possessed similar power draw though, so the end result was a hotter console - albeit one that delivered a big improvement in its acoustic performance.
But yeah, the One X is notably more quiet than PS4 Pros prior to the SE console and later.

Saw that.

I have the 7000 model. Now that I put the 7100 & 7200 into perspective, I really shouldnít complain about fan noise over longevity of console life.

Iíd like to get an X but canít pull the trigger this late in gen 8

Not that it matters much since your reason is a timing issue (as is mine with not getting a Pro) but leaked Black Friday ads are showing $400 X systems at some places.

Isn’t the X just a year old? How can it be too late?

I think most believe the next console will be out within another year or two. With them already claiming forward compatibility I could see not wanting to plunk down $400 when the same price or $100 more will get you an even better system in a year that will display/run your library even better.

I'm the same, I have an S which is actually seeing more action than my Pro at the moment, but I cannot justify an X with next gen possibly just around the corner.

I guess. I got mine because a nice deal turned up, and it just so happened to coincide with the Fallout 69 beta and the impending release of the game. I tried the beta on my PS4 Pro, and it runs noticably better on the Xbox One X. 300 hours (cutting off 100 hours from Fallout 4 because of very little building ) is worth buying a new console for.

I'm not happy with the Elite controller, though. Clearly inferior to my Scuf 4PS Infinity.

We won't be seeing next gen till 2020 at this point. Nothing at XO18, and no Sony at e3 2019... no way there's anything next year. So two years at least for the ONE X to rock your socks is more than good enough for me.

If I only get only 3 years out of my x (2017-2020) so be it. I'm old and jaded enough that I want the best possible console experience at all times. My time is precious.

The enhancements for graphics and frame rate, especially on multiplayer games are more than worth it. Something like Battlefield 5 feels and looks like a next gen game on the X compared to the vanilla box. 60FPS Horizon 4 is a different experience than 30FPS on the vanilla box. I'm not interested in waiting for these experiences when I can have them now.

If X drops itís price tag during the next gen (19-20) I will consider picking it up because I actually liked the 7th generation of gaming & would like to re-visit games Iíve played & others I havenít yet.

I caved.

It’s $100 off now in Canada. Should arrive tomorrow.

I have an external USB HDD. Do I have to re-download all my games? Thanks

If your drive was full of games from a previous system you should only need to sign in with your account and they should work just fine.
