This works.

Seeing that the tv was capable of this from the get go might be confirming jrref’s theory that that the A90J was probably set to these levels after focus group testing. 850 ish is probably a sweet spot in a pitch black room for most people.

Combined with the 100 hour mark increase of 50 nits, the A90J is officially a close to 950 nits tv calibrated (probably 975 ish with out of box accurate settings). Pretty much delivering on what nits lovers were initially hoping for.

Been using this tv a lot and it never ceases to amaze me. It’s simply put the best tv I’ve ever laid my eyes on.

His adjustments work on some 90J's and not so well on others. I plugged his in, and a full screen 100% white image had more of a green push to it. And you really can't just make the 2 point WB adjustments in the SM without doing his full scalle 20 point adjustment, because if you don't follow up with his 20 point afterwards, it really messes up gamma. So for me it was not worth the added 100 nits, pushing the tv to a little over 1000 nits. i can live with the 900 nits OOTB.

Hello everyone

I am thinking of buying a new 4k OLED tv for around 900-1000 pounds, which would eb good for films and games, and a bit confused by the all the options , is getting a HDR10+ plus tv as opposed to just a HDR10 capable one important?

It seems that LG has some good options but apparently no HDR10+?

I think originally, HDR10+ was exclusive to Samsung models (Not on LG or Sony's) and is basically a open-source alternative to DolbyVision which requires a fee paid to Dolby labs.

Ah, is it worth getting a Samsung just for the HDR10 plus then?

In the present horse race between HDR10+ and DV, HDR10+ is closer to becoming the next BETA (beta/VHS) or HD DVD( HD DVD/Blu Ray) of the electronic world.

I haven't experienced that, but I still ended up using my original settings, cause the gain of 100+ nits while delicious caused more eyestrain in the dark. I guess I'm good with the 850~900 nits of the accurate out of box settings too.

It's hard to believe that an oled CAN reach close to 1000 nits if you want it to. I mean it's an oled, it's mind boggling. Even without the boost, the tv is a new class of oled and a generational leap I've rarely seen in a year to year upgrade for any display technology.

I think Sony took down their direct online ordering. My understanding is they took only 4 orders and then removed the Buy button.

We're getting a very small allocation May 18th and a second larger shipment is scheduled for this Friday, May 21st. Supply will be very constrained for the next few months.

Hopefully, my 65" TV is in one of those shipments?

I'm saving up for the 83' myself right now. Im going to be really pissed off if I cant get it by the time I've saved for it. I suppose it will be in my possession eventually though.

LOL, If I had enough space to fit a 83" believe me, I'd hold out for that too. But 65" is as big as the gf will allow, and it's her house.
