And GOTY edition release in Nov, or free update for those who already have MSFS.

Reno Air Race expansion packs (2 versions) to be available in Nov as well for some $$$.

Yep looks like a few more airplanes and airports. Too bad no choppers yet.

Reno will be interesting but not sure I’d spend money on it

Not sure what you are asking there.

Are you asking if 1hr in-game is 1hr in play time? It is. It plays out in real time and no option yet to speed up in-game time (this feature has been requested by players).

I might get Reno if it's on sale but not at $20 for the base expansion.

I believe the choppers are on the development list because choppers are highly requested vehicles from the user feedback.

Well that doesn't sound good. So if you want to fly London to NY it will take you 8-9 real world hours? dang

Development plan shows the work has started and Asobo is targeting 2022Q4 completion, so a year from now.

Yeah!

Alternative would be to take off from London, quit after about 30 minutes once the heading/altitude has been achieved. Then schedule the landing about 30 minutes out from NY.

[Update] I have not tried out the functions but 'Increase/Decrease Sim Rate' commands are available but have to be assigned to the controller, or you can use USB keyboard.

On PC you can speed up time (fast forward). You have to search settings for ‘sim rate’ and it’ll show if buttons have been mapped. On xbox, it might be a little more challenging mapping buttons given obvious limitations.

Spank me silly! I'll look for it next time I'm in it!

Thank you for the answer.

So I confirmed last night that 'sim rate' commands are available on XBSX. Sim rate can be increased or decreased; both commands would have to be mapped to the controller. USB keyboard can be used alternatively; I think +/- keys are used. I have not tried the function yet.

Hhhmmm, I haven't tried plugging in a keyboard yet but I might have to get one, given so many commands on the FS.

Fired up MSFS on XSX last night and it was already automatically updated to GOTY edition!

Confirmed F18 as well as additional lessons for Bush Trips.

“ The Reno Air Races expansion will be available in two packs. The entry package will include just 4 airplanes, one for each class, and will cost $19.99. To get the full 40-plane collection you will have to shell out $59.99 but, and this is important new information, you will also be able to get a specific class of airplanes (10 models in total) for $30. Additionally, each airplane will also be available as a single purchase at $10. This means that you can, for example, buy the base expansion pack, and then buy just your favorite additional model. So, there are several upgrade paths from the base, $19.99 package.”

Iceland BT has been re-completed and is at 100%.

Plugged in a mouse to see if there are benefits to playing MSFS:

I use the elevator TRIM frequently so I decided to use the mouse scroll wheel for the TRIM. It works, but in very fine movements; at least it's better than RB+RS combo.

Also assigned SIM RATE increase/decrease to left/right buttons. The SIM RATE change works great... however, the actual rate is NOT shown on screen that I could find so one has to 'remember' the rate changes. Reading online there is no SIM RATE display function yet so work around is reduce the rate down to 0.25x then go up 2 clicks to 1.0x. Alternative is to use the CLOCK on the plane or use STROBE light (flashes every second) as a gauge. Cumbersome, but not terrible.

Started Switzerland Bush Trip and an annoying problem resurfaced.

1. About 30 minutes into the 1st leg, MSFS crashed and kicked me out (did notice few frame rate stutters along the way, but that's not totally out of the norm).

2. When I restarted the Swiss BT, it placed the plane about 3 minutes before the crash occurred (!?!) So I thought, 'great, time saved!'. Upon landing 7 minutes later, I was credited only for the 7 minutes, not the entire ~40 minutes of flying from Geneva airport.

3. Just like before, all the POI (point of interest) marks on the map have disappeared as well as the route 'path'. It's truly a visual flight but I do like to have the confidence that I am on the path.

4. On top of that, it also deleted my last logged flight times from the Iceland BTs! Total logged flight should be at about 49 hrs but it was back at 45.

I'm thinking that may have to do with MSFS staying 'on' with 'QUICK RESUME'. After a long stint, I might just shutdown MSFS properly for safety. Starting from scratch does take a long time though, even with SSD; couple minutes or so.

Well, it seems Update 7 didn't do shit about 'crashing to desktop' or POI (point of interest) markings in Bush Trips because I ran into both issues on the Austria+Denmark BT. Issues also with the flight log; it simply is not very robust.

Crashed twice. Turned off XB auto recording feature and the stutter stopped = good; but still crashed afterwards.

POIs stayed up to Leg 2 then they disappeared so had to go true VFR. Some POIs are just not visible enough at above 1000ft(!). So called a 'giant sculpture' called Men at Sea in Denmark is 9m tall (picture on left). From 1000ft, they look like nothing (picture on right) and difficult to spot at 120knots if you are trying to locate it for the 1st time.

So Switzerland, Austria, and Denmark BTs completed. At least a couple of legs on those missions had to be redone for one reason or another.

Using mouse for the elevator trim is working well. Mouse can also be used for map zooming and general non-flight controls BUT sim rate changes not working in Bush Trips.

Earned 50 hrs of flight achievement. I should be at about 60 hrs; the wonky flight logger frequently messes up the BT flights.

That said, I'm still enjoying it very much. It could only keep getting better, right?
