Does the 10" sub have enough power to tolerate the bass from some of the new movies? Somebody in the JBL thread was complaining about his 10" sub.

I have two Sub-12's and I also have the db in the receiver fixed in the neg with the gain just below halfway on the sub's.

When I first heard the sub at Bestbuy, I knew I wanted two of them. I loved how the bass filled the room.

At that time when I gotten two of them, I was thinking BASS BASS AND MORE BASS and thinking I got a nice deal on them.

When I went to hook them up, of course one at a time. I had one of them going by itself for awhile. A few months went by and I was thinking I waisted money getting two of them when one is banging and the gain turned down at that.

Reading about having two subs and how that can improve your sound, I decided to hook both just to see. BEAUTIFUL!!!

The bass is room feeling, the smoothness of the bass…

I didn’t know there was a sweet spot for subs, OMG I love when Battlestar Galactica goes off and the bass that plays when the credits are rolling.

He Big Daddy , As far as I feel the RW-10 can really hang in there, as for me, I have the Marantz -SR-7002 and I have the sub set to 0db, and LFE OFF and I run my sub 120HZ , Phase 180 and gain about 1/2 volume , and belive me it really shakes the house, wife gets pissed alot , My room size is 16x18 so not really big , but its really rocks, when I plyed Transformer , WOW, and as I was takling to you about my new toy the Marantz DV-7001 , which I'm using for Music only ,I have a real test cd for anyone that really wants the bass test , it's NickelBack's new Album, this thing has so much deep punching and tight bass its awesome to hear , I've also tried the Y-splitter on the sub , really don't care for it, but it's a great sub for the price, retail is like $500.00 I got mine for $330.00 when they were going to the D- series, so I got a steal, But I really just want more tightness on my bass, so thats why I want to go up to the RW-12D, and really that all my room can handle,.....Now I do campare this to my old klipsch sub I had the SW-15 , this thing was huge, 15 " on front & 15 Pass. Rad. on the back I ran this with a pair if Klipsch KG-5.5 It was really scary , the 1st day I got it at our old house I played some music I blew the Gas seals in our back windows , so I needed to open the windows to crank out..LOL , also I run that sub with 5(five ) Klipsch KG-2.5 for home theater m and back then it was really ahead of the pack , each speaker had a Marantz MA-500 , 150 Mono Block on them , I had five mono blocks , and an Adcom speaker selector I could switch back & forth for Music & home theater, for the main Left & right's. that was 9 years ago , and when I put the little syetem together it was really good , but I wanted to go the best I could get and I put a refference system together , My wife made a comment one day and said the speakers and overall sound was to parr with my old system if not better , that made me feel pretty good, ...LOL...this is my story & I'm sticking to it..

Default Klipsch ksw 10

I bought this sub to replace a noisy junk sub I had. I like this sub warm and fills the room nice (for what it is I will add a second soon) but watching some of the latest bd's like, transformers, king kong, ironman, etc. I get a distortion of sorts. A real big flappie boom that will trail off.

I have the levels set with a spl and the crossover is set correctly, but I am not sure what else to do.

Any thoughts from anyone?

I would say that your sub simply cannot handle the lowest of frequencies well and is bottoming-out. You will most likely need to upgrade.

Turn the volume down slightly and see if you notice any improvement.

Man the sub 12s are nice and two would be cool. I am looking at getting a 2nd rw 12 d if I can find a good deal on one. But two sub 12s would be great.

yeah that should really thump with music and really smooth out the movies, no big jumps. Prolly do 1 in back and 1 in front (on a diag)

What price are you looking to get below? That is a sealed sub and I wanted to try and put two ported sub with one or maybe two sealed subs to see how it sounds.

I havn't gotten around to doing it yet, been really busy lately.

I do have two ported Sub-12's and it does have a very nice smoothness about them.

******EDIT ****
Silly me, i just read that it has a port... "Corner Port".
I couldn't see that from the pic

Hello all, i have an off the wall question about the RW-10D. Does the color of the woofer match with the Reference series II? Or is it the same shade as the previuos reference series. The second series seem to have a "darker" shade of copper color......or something like that. I just purchased the RF-52 II and was looking at buying the RW-10D. Thanks

So, with the grills off all speakers, the subwoofer would not match the rest of my speakers (series II) in terms of color? Im just one of those types that likes everything to match. I've been looking at photos and they all seem to be a little different. Maybe its just the cameras and lighting. Im looking for a 10 inch and would like to stay with all Klipsch and figured i would go with the RW-10. Well, my budget is 600 for the sub and center (RC-52 II). Would it be wise to spend the 600 on the surrounds (RS-42 II) or get the sub and center first? This is something ive been wondering. Also, is there another sub you would recommend. I looked at a few subs from BIC and the price and reviews are darn good. I would like to stick with a 10 inch due to my room size 11x12, and of course the wife. Thanks
