Default PS3 harddrive questions

My PS3 had a YLOD, I put back in my old HDD(60GB) when I sent it away. I got it back this morning, tried putting my 250gb HDD back in and now it wants to format it.... It is the same exact PS3, so I should be able to do this.... anyone help me out?

Do you know for sure it is the same one? Even if it the same case, it most likely is a new motherboard, which would make you reformat a new hard drive.

I sent in mine for repair. They had to replace the motherboard and my old hard drive was still working when I turned it on. It was like nothing changed from when I had sent it. Everything was still there.

You're 100% sure they changed the motherboard? Changing the motherboard is essentially getting a different PS3 in the same case.

yes - you can re-download everything - there is a link in the store on the top right corner

you would want to format the HD, remove your account and call Sony to deactivate the system from your account

CC info is stored on Sony's servers and everything is tied into account management and the user ID

Any idea why they DON'T let you re-download movies though???

I have mine backed up, but it makes me a little nervous that movies are a one shot deal on the psn.

Yes, everything you have downloaded from the PSN store will be available for "re-download."

There's an option in System Settings I think to 'Reset the factory defaults.' I believe that returns the unit to a fresh-out-of-the-box-type status. You could call Sony to de-authorize the unit, but unless you have several PS3s that you are using at once, I wouldn't really worry about that.

I'm pretty sure just taking the HDD out and putting it in again will require a reformat.

The only way to get round this is by doing a back up and restoring.

Default Correct Hard Disc Not Found????

Anyone know how to solve this problem. I changed my hard drive months ago and i still get this error message whenever i turn on my ps3. I have to turn it off and on several times before it loads up. Sometimes it will turn on on the first try, but rarely.

What, precisely, is the antecedent of "this error message"?
