Puppet Master: Axis of Evil Blu-ray Review

At long last this classic horror series is coming to Blu-ray! The new Puppet Master movie Puppet Master: Axis of Evil is being released on June 27th, and they are also releasing the original Puppet Master film on Blu-ray, as well. Even better, they put together this awesome box set that comes with both movies, some stickers, and Puppet Master trading cards, too! It's shaped to look like the Puppet Master trunk from the movies. How cool is that?

You can preorder the box set from the Full Moon Features Web site now, or wait until June and just buy the movies on Blu-ray individually when they are mass released. I think they are eventually going to release the entire Puppet Master series on Blu-ray and also some of their other classic titles like the Subspecies and Trancers series.

Is anyone else as excited about this as I am? The last few Puppet Master movies were crap but the new one looks really good from what I've seen on the YouTube trailers so far. Plus, I've been wanting the original Puppet Master on Blu-ray forever!

Here's the official info about the Blu-ray box set on the Full Moon site: link

7/28 UPDATE: The individual Blu-rays for Puppet Master I and Puppet Master: Axis of Evil are available by themselves now! Check Full Moon Direct for more details.

I'm not holding my breath for quality on this and will wait for someone to review it first. Hopefully Charles Band has not done another laserdisc conversion of Puppet Master 1.

Yeah, they are going to release the movies on Blu-ray individually. This box set is supposed to be limited edition, so I figured I'd help spread the word now so everyone can get theirs while they last.

I've been waiting for this one for a while. How about Trancers and Dollman?

I love Tim Thomerson! I am pretty sure they are going to get the Trancers series onto Blu-ray. Hopefully there will be enough demand for Dollman, too; I mean, it has Jackie Earle Haley as the villain before he played Rorschach, so that's a selling point right there.

We need more vintage Full Moon on BD.
(And maybe some Empire Pictures while they're at it...What, no "Re-Animator" yet, LG?)

The real back-of-the-shelf 80's VHS stuff, not the graverobbing made-for-cable wannabes the new producers made after selling the studio name out to SyFy.

I believe that still belongs to Starz/Anchor Bay.

It's a kick to get films like this in hi-def-- but I agree with the above post-- if they are remastered for hi-def..... then great I'll buy them. If they're old transfers simply thrown onto a blu-ray disc...... forget it-- they will look awful!

This is awesome. This movie goes into the pile of movies that made me hate dolls. They should release the boxset for Puppetmaster and Subspicies. Get some real Vampire movies out on blu.

Lionsgate only owns Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator. Those need to come out too along with Re-Animator. "Who's going to believe a talking head? Get a job in a side show."

Not for a whole lot of people, the average person still has no clue who he is, and probably won't until ANOES comes out.

I actually watched Dollman on VHS a few weeks ago. I still get kidded when people come over and see my high tech gear, and then see a VCR and dual cassette deck beside it.

I pointed that out to a friend when Watchmen came out.
