So there's some conflicting information that'd i'd like to clarify.

Could anyone that has the UK set please confirm?

Thanks in advance.
I have the set, and yes I can confirm that it's region free. Anime Ltd sets are usually Region B locked but this is one exception.

I noticed the other ones that are region AB also only say Region B on their website (like Ouran High School)

This is appearing on TCM channel on 9/28/19 at 2 a.m. Eastern time zone. I am not sure that it will be unedited, of course.

It will be. TCM has always presented films uncut, in their original aspect ratio with no commercials.

Has anybody compared technical encode stats between any of the European releases and Cinelicious?

I'd be interested in knowing too. Is one version superior to the other in terms of PQ?

In the trailer they show these clips that look out of this world of stuff seemingly unrelated to the story, do these segments represent a fairly significant part of the film?

I've never seen this film but it looks very interesting but going in without knowing I just hope those scenes aren't long as in 10~15 min of just plain weirdness. I know some people love that kind of style in films but to me when shown in long segments it's the kind of thing that potentially puts me to sleep.

I have the Cinelicious BD, and I've only watched it once, but I don't remember any terribly lengthy asides. It mostly was a pretty straight-forward narrative, as far as I can recall. I remember it being a good bit more disturbing than I expected. I expected weird, and dark, and very adult. But I was surprised about how effective it is (being that it is a painterly, animated film) at actually disturbing me and making me uneasy. It's very effective.

It's a surrealist, experimental animated movie. Everything in it is the story, symbolic of the story, and aesthetics. It's exactly what it's like intentionally. If you like that sort of thing then this is just the right thing for you! I highly recommend checking it out. If it's not your thing pass it along to someone else.

Thank you to both of you for sharing your opinion. Glad to hear everything is part of the story. I went ahead and bought it so I'll find out soon. Looks very unique.

Apologies for the big necromancy, but I never picked up the UK release. Still curious if it shares the encode with Cinelicious' disc. I can't find any technical stats on it anywhere.

It's a clone of the Cinelicious' disc.

Oh wow thanks! The French disc looks quite a bit better to me tbh. Even the framing. The US/UK disc looks out of focus and a bit degrained.

Since I don't have this yet, I may as well get the 4K edition if the standard Blu-ray included really is a region free clone of the US Cinelicious disc.

The original UK release is a region free clone of the Cinelicious BD. They'll probably use the BD, but I hope they redo it entirely. The Cinelicious BD is difficult to enjoy because of the poor compression.

The 4K is also let down by some compression issues, but it mostly looks good. The included Blu-ray is region-free and appears to be the Cinelicious disc.

I don't own the blu-ray... so, the upgrade is worth it then?
