I have the DVD' and think I will stick with them for now. Hopefully the BBC will listen to the demand and reissue this set. They did so with The Key to Time on DVD so keeping my fingers crossed.

Did you search for the answer? it was already posted -- twice in great detail after post 500 in this thread.

I asked thinking somebody would be helpful instead of me searching the past 100 posts trying to find the answer. I know the point of the fixes.

The point was I wanted to know if there was a way to quickly identify by looking for a code on the ring or maybe a different marking on the top of the discs rather than popping the disc in and watching the content trying to decide if it's fixed or not.

Why not just say in the first place where approximately I could find where the code is being discussed? Especially since you're the one that posted it?

It's post # 502 for others that would like to know.
Dual layer so 2 codes per disc

Basically and exactly b/c I did spend 30-45 minutes gathering the information, making that post, and building off RichL's original post. I would have been just as put off if someone else had made the post and put the effort into getting the information though.

To jump in at the end of a thread without taking 2 minutes to skim to posts to see if the answer was already there or even do a basic 10 second thread search is irritating (obviously).

The original 'Yes' post was 1/2 out of late night irritation and 1/2 a bad attempt at being funny.

There is tons of information already here yet so many threads turn into a series of posts asking the same repetitive questions again and again like that's OK.

And now Baker's final season has been confirmed, due in February. They're knocking these out pretty quickly now. http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/doctor-...eason-blu-ray/

WHOOO! I only found out about the defective discs a couple of weeks ago. I e-mailed them on the 20 November and it arrived today! I wasn't sure if they would send it to me since I'm in the US but purchased the UK version.

Just curious, what is the Region coding on the UK discs? I may get the UK Davison set to have a proper 25 fps version. Granted, I have a Region free player, but my drive I rip BDs with isn’t- I’d probably convert it to MP4 at 25 fps from the 50i encoding. Assuming it’s Region A compatible.

S12 is region free like the majority of otehr DW (50i), but there are some odd releases -- UK S9 is Region B locked, but 1-8 and 10 are not

Guys, i’ve preordered seasons 18 and 19 but missed out on s12. What are the odds of it ever coming back on sale? And i’ve never seen any of the classic shows. Can you watch these out of sequence? I’ll be waiting a long time for them to release every season to watch in order :/. Thanks

Pretty much, yes. There are oddities where watching them in order helps, like season 18 leading directly into season 19. So maybe hang on before watching season 19.

Don't worry. So did I. But we can make do by reading all the daily lodged complaints and nitpicks from everyone who didn't miss out, to see what your missing out on.

S12 is essential viewing as it contains perhaps the best Who story ever in Genesis of the Daleks and the rest of the series is very good. It isn't a co-incidence this was the first series released in this present schedule.

I don't know if they will ever reissue it in normal packaging (they would be mad not to) but you can buy all the episodes on DVD very cheaply and they are pretty good quality.

If you haven't watched any I would say just but the DVD's cheap second hand on ebay and watch the first Tom Baker season first before starting on the later ones.

I agree that S12 is very good and essential viewing for any Doctor Who fan but I honestly don't think people would have a problem watching the S18 & S19 collections without seeing any of S12 first.

Hopefully, the people who missed out on the S12 Limited Edition blu-ray collection will get to see S12 at a later date when the S12 collection is re-issued, if it is, or via DVD. But S18 and S19 are very good too and those seasons can certainly be watched as is.

There's really no issue watching out of sequence for most of classic Who. Would be a good idea to have 18 before 19 due to the "Master trilogy" that spans those two seasons but running arcs between different stories are very rare and almost always confined to single seasons if there are any.

Aye. Watch and enjoy. Never mind about "arcs" and continuity between seasons.

Keeper of Trakken then Logopolis is a pretty cool sequence but I kind of think it's better watching in a random way. Watch Genesis of the Daleks and then imagine what it would be like with today's "commentary" about what's wrong with the show "Where's the TARDIS?!!!! If they can't write the show and include the TARDIS then they shouldn't be anywhere near Dr Who." etc, etc.

I wonder if, in the fullness of time, they'll do complete box sets for each Doctor. Big and pricey but there have been expensive boxes in the past. It seems a waste to create the blu ray masters and not make money from them

Well, that's just the BBC in a nutshell.
