What are the chances of a Central Station Criterion release? It’s not available on any streaming and the DVD/Blu-ray releases are nearly impossible to find for a reasonable price. I think it’s only a matter of time for this one.
Good question. Criterion should pick this one. https://www.reddit.com/r/criterion/c...ntral_station/ Quote: *********** There are three recent Central Station Blu Rays releases availables. There's a Brazilian release (region free) Blu Ray that was part of the 20th anniversary restoration. A region B release from France. As well as a region A release from Taiwan. The Brazilian version has English subtitles but is pretty expensive to import. The French version is a lot cheaper but is region specific and does not have English subtitles. The Taiwanese version is region A but does not have English subtitles. Great film and worthy of a Criterion release. However, I'd settle for a reasonably priced English subtitled blu ray. *********** Also, while they are at it, please do import all previous bonus contents from the former DVDs. And if possible add new ones. http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=6124 About being too expensive, that's not really true at least nowadays. They are selling in here (a local eBay): LINK For at least R$ 75. That's expensive for us, but if I convert to US dollars that would be US$ 13-15. The problem is these sites do not ship outside the country. From what I can tell eBay also doesn't have it. https://www.blu-ray.com/Central-Stat...8601/#Releases |

Yep. But what I didn't like is the fact the movie is in DD 2.0 for the brazilian disc, according to the cover.
While in Taiwan (region A, too): ******** Portuguese: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Portuguese: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Note: TrueHD 5.1 = TrueHD 2.0 ******** Also, I would be careful about the image, too, because it may be using BD-25 instead of BD-50, assuming foreign releases use the latter and have a different bitrate, so the image may be worse for that BR disc. I am saying this because it's not unusual at all that we (and I know this because I am from Brazil and have been noticing this for more than 2 decades) get discs with either the audio or the video in worse shape from the local distributor, so I never trust anything released in this country, especially if the company doing it is unknown. |
