Ritrovata restorations look yellow because this is their branding for their work. They want people to recognize that THEY did the restoration. Some executive of the company stated this concerning the controvery around LE CERCLE ROUGE. I'm not kidding.

This is just plain dumb! I'm surprised that studios and, where they are involved, directors/DPs don't reject the work.

'Colour branding' a restoration would surely be the quickest way to alienating your clients.

I noticed after getting my tv ISF calibrated, the Ritrovata yellow tint didn't look quite as bad (still not accurate). Another "fix" is changing the settings to cool, though no one should have to do this and most likely still wouldn't look accurate.

Either way, as frustrating as it is I'm continuing to support the HK releases as who could've imagined 5 years ago getting the Police Story trilogy in 4K UHD?!

Hoping for a Bruce Lee 50th anniversary UHD set next year, with the great people of this forum helping to make them definitive releases (better audio at least)

And still companies hire them. As long as this continues prepare for more disappointment.

Le Cercle Rouge was done by Hiventy, not Ritrovata. I think both companies have the same philosophy though.

This is what I meant re: vibes. Flames/explosions obviously an in thing where Michelle Yeoh is concerned!

The sad thing too is that article mentioning how all these indie labels are attempting to fix the color grading. Many of these films are irreparably damaged from the extreme color pushes and trying to "fix" them can't remove other problems that come with the work that was done.
