Personally, I'd add another PB-2000.

I might be stepping into the world of SVS next week. I trying to convince myself to get the PB1000 over the SB1000.I like the compact size of the SB1000 but the PB1000 is more for movies. Has anyone seen both in person? Trying to figure out which one would be better for me? This will be primarily used for movies and some TV viewing. I'm not sure if I'm ready for a "big" sub in the house. This will be going upstairs in my "man cave", and its not a real big area maybe 11x9 or so. I'm used to having an older Sony sub and now a used Paradigm that I got from a flea market last year. I guess I'm ready to step up to the big leagues now. Wish me luck..

If shooting for visceral thrills, go with the PB. I'm mostly a music guy (with a bigger room), so I went with the SB-2000. You can't go far wrong - SVS makes great subs. Good luck & enjoy!

Well after having the BIC F12 for 8 years it is time for an upgrade. Went with the SVS PB-3000. Should be here end of next week. Until then i'm going to relearn how to setup and adjust the new sub. I'm excited to see how the new subs sounds.

Set the subwoofer up yesterday, I have been configuring it today and so far it's a BEAST.

My SB-2000 took a week or so to break in, so expect improvements.

Does here know how to pull a plate off of an SB-13 Ultra? I removed the 10 screws per SVS instructions, however after movies the screws the amp won't come off, it seems sealed to the box. Tried talking some pliers and pulling on one prongs where the power connectors goes, but wasn't able to shake the amp loose. Anyone had here a similar experience, if so, what did you do?

I'd try leaving the power plug in, and using it as "handle" to move the plate slightly to break the sticky seal. Easy does it though.

Before you do that, use a heat gun around the perimeter of plate amp to warm up and loosen any adhesive first. Do not know your cabinet finish, so be careful not too much heat which could damage your enclosure?

Ugh, last night my almost 9-year old SB12-NSD made a bunch of thumping sounds in a rhythmic succession. There was no signal/source going to it at the time. I killed the power, turned it back on again and it repeated the same behavior. I'm praying it's not dying/dead. Any thoughts? Nothing has changed in the signal path (new receiver, new cabling, etc.) since it's been installed and it has been on and set to "Auto" from Day One if that helps any.

EDIT: On the phone with SVS now and they're saying it's the amp...$200.

One of my subs did the same thing about a year ago and that is what it was, easy to replace.

Sounds like that was its death knell, haha.

But seriously, I am surprised it gave way as quickly as it did. Just shy of 9 years doesn't seem like that long of a time for me for such a well made product, but what do I know. I have two JBL subs in my home theater system, one a Studio model and the other the lowly, ill-fated but "little engine that could" PB12 and they are both well over 9 years old and continue to go strong. Now granted, they're only pressed into duty when I'm down in the basement versus being on in my main living room system like the SVS but still.

Anyway, good to hear it's a simple fix. As the SVS rep said, with a beer it takes 5 minutes.

I only had mine about a year and my amp went which was surprising to say the least. Another I have downstairs is a cheap subwoofer and it's about 12 years old with no problems.

I got my amp replaced in no time at all yesterday and that bad boy was back to thumping for an entire day's worth of NFL football!

Yeah, the Jets are thumpers. I'm not even sure what that means. But it made me laugh.

In all seriousness, glad your sub is fixed. It sucks when gear goes down.

Me neither but yet I get ya.

Thanks, bud...it sure does especially something as venerable as an SVS sub, but the fix was simple and quick even for a decidedly non-handy guy like me.

Hello, I was hoping some people in here could give me their thoughts on my situation. I have 2X 10 inch Klipsch subs that are not cranked very loud. I use them for mid range chest kicking. For my low end, I have two 15 inch Klipsch subs. They were the first 15's that Klipsch made. Back before they colored their subs gold. One of my 15 inch subs died and I have been looking to upgrade my 15 inch subs.

I liked the Klipsch subs that I had but I have to admit that anything under 18Hz would drop off and the sub box could not handle the signal. I would get lots of chuffing and box vibration.

I'm using 6X Klipsch RP8000F towers and an RP504C center channel with 4X RP140 height channels.

According to the SVS web site, I should pair these speakers with a PB16-Ultra.

I can afford one of these but not two of them. My question is this.

Should I buy 1 PB16 Ultra or 2X Monolith 15's? They cost about the same and I have heard good things about both brands of subs. It looks like the PB16 goes a little lower and has a much higher peak power rating on the amp but 2X monoliths would give me two large boxes that could probably match the PB16 for low end base extension.

Does anybody have an experience with both subs or any insight about quality or features that I may be overlooking?

1 Monoprice Monolith could outperform a PB3000. So 2x of each would give the same result.
2 Monoprice Monolith's could out perform a PB4000 and I can't afford 2X PB 4000.
So that leaves me with 1 PB 16 Ultra vs 2 Monolith's.
I'm leaning toward the Monolith's because 2 subs would give better coverage but I have heard that the PB16 Ultra is a monster and that is why I'm asking for opinions.
