But even so, Ryo can't do it alone. His partner is Kaori Makimura the younger sister of his murdered best friend. Kaori serves as his assistant, while also protecting their attractive clients from Ryo's "mokkori" advances with her trusty supply of 100-ton hammers. Though they always appear to be at each other's throats, the partners trust each other implicitly when the chips are down, and together they've solved various tough cases.

I decided to create a dedicated thread now that we have confirmation the original TV series will be released on BD as well. I've heard that City Hunter 2 is due for a release on BD in Japan, so hopefully the rest of it will follow suit and we'll get the whole shebang over here in HD.

City Hunter 1 and the new film have been confirmed for Blu-ray. As for the rest, it depends on Japan creating HD files to work with. City Hunter 2 should be coming out on BD in the near future over there.

It was kinda hard for me to hear the end bit as well, but since they are releasing the first series on bluray, I think they were implying that they aren't sure when they can release the rest of the franchise 'cause they have to wait until Japan's bluray releases.

I can't believe it. It's crazy that this is coming on BD before Transformers, GIJOE, X-men TAS, and Spider-man TAS. Discotek is a god send!

Next year is going to be a long way. lol I was kinda hoping for end of this year oh well
I really hope that the whole library will eventually come to BD in time!

I've seen the film. It's not bad, but it's not good either. There were some subplots that should have been left on the cutting room floor.

I have seen the Shinjuku Private Eyes Collector's Edition DVD in person (identical to the BD). Looks nice. It's too bad that Discotek doesn't do collector's editions, so I'll probably buy the Dynit release (if they're releasing a CE).

As for the movie itself, it's what I hoped it would be. Basically a City Hunter three-parter. Nothing original, but it doesn't have to be.

I personally wish the City Hunter k-drama got released on Bluray with English subtitles. Anything with more Park Min Young is a plus, anywho. But this should be a nice set if done well!
