Then when there are sales we buy stuff and watch it. No smudged or scratched discs, no expired codes with the disc, no skipping/freezing. There are two big ISPs in my area who I've been using for the last 12 years and I have yet to experience a total internet outage. I also can't see these studios cutting off digital copies any time soon. Just my two cents but I think I'm fine settling for this now.

Especially if you have Fiber and Hardwired Ethernet the Quality is catching up to Disc Real Fast!

Streaming vs. Blu-ray Disc for 4K HDR & Dolby Atmos Quality | Is Streaming Really That Bad? - YouTube

OK the guy calculates the average for some UHD BDs and it averages out to 59.11 for video (I personally feel max is much more important but who cares) and 3.85 for audio. He does not bother to calculate from different streaming vendors for those same movies but guestimates 20 and 0.77 for gold standard streaming (which are reasonable IMHO).

I am curious what you have been telling us?

1) Wendel and others have been showing such numbers for streaming for years (since UHD started being offered)now and it is not improving?
2) 20 for video that wou;ld have bene good 20 years ago when all we had were SD DVDs
3) there is roughly 3x as much video info and 5x as much audio info so anyone that cares about quality in a scenario will pick to watch the physical copy in that case.

How does the video support the only thing I remember you ever sayiong “it is all digital from the same master” and so implying there is no difference?

a few weeks ago my mouse died and I picked up a new one at BB, bought a couple of films while I was there. Before that it was over 2-3 years that I did not buy a title in a physical store. Store closures are sad for all the people losing their jobs but when it comes to physical media I don't think it matters.

Groceries I did a bit of pick-up/delivery when the Covid lock downs started but I prefer picking my fresh groceries in person, clothes the same thing. But BDs it does not matter if it is on-line or in person (except for the peoples jobs).

I used to go out of my way to try and buy locally as much as I could just because it preserves local jobs (and it is not as if you will get a discount from buying on-line at BB). But apart from that I don't personally care if it is on-line or in person.

I don't go local either unless it's an exclusive or something that I know Amazon cannot give me. Even then, my nearest BB is about 7 miles away, but I don't usually go out of my way to shop there. I know BB tends to have 4K disc sales in the fall, so that's usually when I do in-store pick up.

Glad to hear from you. But IMHO companies (and formats) should be here for us and not us for them. There should be no obligation for anyone to buy anything.

just because it was discussed before

https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news...ncel-recurring

in the US the FTC is looking at implementing rules that will “require that companies make it as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up for one. The proposal would save consumers time and money, and businesses that continued to use subscription tricks and traps would be subject to stiff penalties.”

Had to reschedule my JW4 showing for tonight because as I was arriving to my preferred theater last night there was a heavy police/EMT presence at the shopping center. They were not letting folks through, so I found parking and tried getting in a different way but the security guards were not letting anyone in - they said that they were evacuating the entire shopping center due to losing power in the entire complex. I ran back to my car and got out of there before getting boxed in with the rest of the people leaving. I was able to make it back home in about 10 minutes. The freeway was surprisingly empty on my way back. Funny enough when I got home and checked my phone I had a refund from AMC saying that there was an issue at the center and apologized.

I got my ticket for tonight at a different theater. Take 2!

That's interesting, although I thought it was easy to cancel streaming subscriptions already.

it is not just about streaming subscription. it will most likely affect everything (free trials....)

But there has been discussions here in the past of streaming providers thinking of making it harder since let's face it they don't like it when people register, binge and switch. But even though they just started the process of deciding what will be in it I hope it alleviate some peoples fears.

John Wick 4 was amazing. No words. Actually, there's plenty of words, but I would be redundant on that since the dedicated threads encapsulate my feelings.

Same here mate. Loved it, can’t wait to own it on 4K disc.

Going to see The Pope’s Exorcist and Evil Dead Rise in next couple of weeks.

I'm gonna see Pope's Exorcist, but will be skipping Evil Dead Rise. I hated the previous one that was supposedly a remake or whatever. I really hated that one.

I just watched Knock at the Cabin and it had some really great performances in a "just ok" film. It's playing in 4K HDR/5.1 on Peacock.

I also just watched the 4K disc of The Running Man, and holy crap, what a phenomenal looking 4K disc in 4K DV and DTS HD-MA 5.1 lossless.

I ordered the 4K Steelbook of KATC. It’s M.Night so a no brainer for me.

The Running Man? A very good film but the lad I used to care for at work used to watch it once a week for about a year, I have really had enough of it now bless him.

Outstanding film. Easily one of the best action movies ever made.

Looking forward to Pope's Exorcist but Evil Dead Rise is my current most anticipated film.

Yeah, of the two I’m looking forward to that one most. Sister fancied seeing the TPE though, so any excuse for a trip to cinema.

Watched Dragonslayer 4K disc this morning and holy cow, what a revelation! It's one of the best releases of the year, IMO!

It may be on Disney+

Seems Paramount and Disney are both credited.
