Thumbs up Road to Perdition (2002)

Between the sublime cinematography of Conrad Hall, the deft direction of Sam Mendes, the beautiful and haunting Thomas Newman score, and the brilliant acting performances of everyone from the late Paul Newman to Tom Hanks, Jude Law, Daniel Craig, Stanley Tucci and Tyler Hoechlin, this film genuinely deserves to be mastered and released in 4K.

It would be incredible if the surviving members of the production, both in front of and behind the camera, could sit down to share perspective on the film, particularly with the passage of nearly twenty years since the film's theatrical release.

Is anyone else keen on seeing this modern masterpiece released in 4K?

Who owns the home distribution rights today? Is it still Paramount? I really want to reach out and get some momentum behind this!

I won't call this a "masterpiece" but its atmosphere and tone are very distinct. Very filmic. And undeniably would be perfect for 4K UHD across the rain effects, across lighting and mood, across composition and colour; there will be more nuance than ever in the aesthetic.

I have definitely had some anticipation wood over thinking of this title making it's way to the format! Bring it on whoever owns the master to crank this out.

This and Lincoln are two of my favourite visual movies still not on the format. Gangs of New York is right behind that. But I happen to view custom HDR grade of the latter. That I really rate highly so for now I'm conten w/ that.

Paramount has (US) domestic rights, but Disney controls all other international territories, since the bought 20th Century Fox.

Minority Report also falls into this distribution type of deal.

I wonder if contacting Andrea Kalas of Paramount might lead to some consideration for restoring "Road to Perdition"? Might have to be some sort of cost-sharing arrangement since the distribution is varied globally.

Like you said, all the people involved; Conrad Hall, Sam Mendes, Thomas Newman, and the acting crew really made this movie special.

Can't wait for the 4k.

Wanting this one as well. The drenchy scenes should look very nice in UHD, along with some darker paletted ones.
