I'm hoping Old Joy comes on blu ray. That would be awesome.

I'm looking forward to their upcoming Metropolis restoration on Blu.

I'd also love to see Tarkovsky's Stalker get a Blu release...

I got The General as a Christmas present. It looks fantastic. I see they're planning on Our Hospitality and Sherlock, Jr. in the future as well. As a fan of silent movies I can only hope they keep them coming.

I have Ballast up next in my Netflix queue. I was wondering how such a small release made it to Blu-ray. Now I know: Kino did it. They are a great company, right up there with--if not higher than--Criterion.

Their two territories are silent movies, with Buster as their big seller (let's see, should be Buster's "The Navigator" or "The Three Ages" next), and Russian cinema--
Hopefully we'll see "East Side Story" (the documentary on Russian musicals) next.

Don't forget about other silent movies, especially the German Expressionists. Yes, The Navigator should be next on the Keaton list. I don't think I've seen The Three Ages. Any idea who owns the rights to The Passion of Joan of Arc? That would be incredible on Blu-ray.

(Oops...Well, yes, we thought we'd get the Restored Metropolis by now.)

Here, try some: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkDj18K2f1M
It's funnier when you know Buster was trying to parody "Intolerance", which, back then, needed it.

Criterion's got that one safe and sound, but there's too much ahead of it in line--Otherwise, Kino's got the lock on just about anything pre-sound.

If Kino decides to open up the silent floodgates on blu, I'm going to be very happy. (And very broke.)
