I think I need another 10 years for VR to really wow me.

I sold my PSVR1 after a year cause there were too few games that I really liked and the graphics were just a bit too blurry and crappy for me.
I had huge expectations for PSVR2 but after about 2 hours of play (RE5 & Horizon) I feel like it's still not where I want it to be.
It's a good upgrade over PSVR1 graphics but honestly not nearly as big as I anticipated.
Horizon especially was a bummer. The textures are blury, looking into the distance (which is what you do a lot) is rather ugly with how low-res and foggy everything becomes.
Tracking of the controllers never feels good - you climb a lot and I feel like my on-screen hands always twist and turn in wrong directions after a few moves.
The arrow-shooting is also quite awkward. I guess I prefer a controller after all.

I think VR enthusiasts that loved VR1 will be very happy with this, but people that also struggled with VR1 due to low graphic fidelity and the Mura effect, might be underwhelmed with PSVR2.
Maybe I would keep it, if it was 300€ but for 600, there's too little (doesn't help that there's no new games coming that I'd be interested in).
Sorry to hear that. Do you think you'll be able to get a full refund?
I'm a fan of PSVR1 despite the lower resolution, but I'm honestly waiting for a much larger game library to reassure me that the PSVR2 will have the same success of PSVR1 from 2016 to 2020.

But the res is definitely HD according to its spec & literally no one has mentioned that in any review/impression anywhere I've seen.

I've wiped lenses down and done the obvious and the various eye set-up & calibrations. This video addresses blur concerns. He mentions in his review that there is a filter of some kind that is part of the display.

I was wondering the same thing at first with the gong. The stick was just flopping on the ground. I eventually figured it out you had to use both hands to hold it and hit the gong.

I played through and passed moss 1 last night. It's been a couple years since I played it. The vibration in the headset added to the experience this time around and the game looked a little clearer and the lighting was better.

The EU Sony shop as a 14day return guarantee so during this time, I can return it free of charge and get a full refund. I think they even extended it to 30days.
Enough for me to finish Horizon and be done with it.
Kinda glad I didn't buy any more. Was about to buy the Moss Bundle and Star Wars as well, but thankfully waited for the set to arrive.

I found another review that also mentions some of the filtering and resulting blurriness:
https://uploadvr.com/psvr2-technical-analysis/

Quote:
The first is that OLED tends to have more space between subpixels. This usually results in a more visible “screen door effect”, but that’s not the case here. Sony appears to be using some kind of diffusion filter to avoid that. The tradeoff of such a filter is that the image looks somewhat soft, not entirely crisp, so PSVR 2’s image appears slightly less sharp than even LCD headsets with lower resolution.
The second, more problematic issue is that there is a non-uniform fixed pattern noise over the entire screen, called mura. It’s incredibly noticeable and distracting in loading and transition scenes, or when looking at a skybox or other low detail region. It’s not as noticeable in typical gameplay, but it’s still definitely there.

Sounds good, thanks. Glad to hear it looks even sharper than the already solid PSVR1 version. Moss 2 could really use it too for the more open areas looking into the distance. I bet the Hand controllers are much better now, compared to the drifting of the PSVR1's light bar controller. The orb kept drifting out of my range in that version.

I have been holding off getting Moss 2 because I figured it would be out for PSVR2, so this will be my first play through. I am going to try some of my other games and some of the demos this weekend and dive in to Moss 2 some time next week.

No, because while the lens are high resolution, the image you are seeing is still magnified. Even with 8K lens, there would still be a loss of resolution (although it would be closer to 4K quality)

Having said all that, it also depends on the game. At its best, you shouldn’t be noticing loss of resolution because the immersion is so overwhelming. My guess is that once developers are firing on all cylinders and you play a game like last gen’s Astrobot or Blood And Money, you will be blown away.

So, in short the display is absolutely HD, much more so than last gen, it’s just not going to match a 4K game on the PS5 because the image through the headset is magnified. Some games will look crisper than others though, that’s down to skill of developers. That’s how VR works.
Believe me when I say this new headset will be capable of greatness though.

Yeah thanks Steedeel, I’m seeking out feedback from other users to be sure, but I’m sure the headset is behaving as intended in which case still looks decent but I’m blown away more by the overall experience as opposed the sharpness of the image I’m looking at right now.

Yeah, like with Gran Turismo 7, it looks great in VR and I’m loving it. The detail is impressive but it does feel just a bit soft and has some of the visual issues mentioned here. But on my OLED TV, it’s absolutely stunning. It feels way more detailed and vibrant.

Cool, thanks. I'm halfway through Moss 2 on PSVR1, but just have to get past some confusing puzzle designs. Moss 1 was awesome though. Moss 2 is good too, but more complicated sometimes with the boomerang character and some abilities.

I see, thanks for the info. That is great they'll let you bring it back. Here in the US, they would unfortunately never allow it for any entertainment such as video games or consoles, other than for an exchange for another one of the same item.

Okay, thanks for the details too.

Horizon is super impressive to me, I got to a fight where you're basically ducking under fire, strafing around and aiming at weak spots, building up fire, doing the usual Horizon thing. And talking to npc's as if they're right in front of you at full height in person. They look so great. Not to mention the machine safari thing.

Very impressive showcase, giving me all kinds of typical VR mechanic experiences and looks great albeit softer image than anticipated as mentioned above. The climbing stuff is cool as I've never done it in a game before, but I can see it wearing thin if it's only that. But this game has a lot of cool varied stuff to offer including combat, collectibles, side stuff and puzzles. Soo good.

That's hopeful. The game looks pretty good for VR and probably the most creative game on the headset so far from the look of the opening library. Thanks.

Thanks Greg. Yeah, Sony not considering blu ray 3D support for a stereo 3D VR device is a miss on their part, and for 3D fans too. It's a factor for why I didn't get a PSVR2 yet, along with the high price and awaiting a larger library of PSVR2 games.

I got the VR2 yesterday and today got the 10ft extension cable so it can be playable in my theater room. I don’t own any VR games yet, so only going off demos so far.. butt is still gaping from this thing charging last week. This was my absolute first experience with VR. Unfortunately I’m also undecided about whether to try and send it back or not.

I’m simultaneously underwhelmed by the current experience and excited by the possibilities. The sense of immersion is incredible for the most part, I’m not the least bit prone to motion sickness but I can almost see it happening with this thing. That said I have the fuzzy corner problem, though I doubt I’ve tinkered with the headset enough to minimize it, still overall I was expecting a sharper experience at this price.

Also the controls will take major getting used too, the RE demo was particularly frustrating. Never could get the shotgun to draw during the VR tutorial and the game demo seems to dead end in a basement before anything happens. The Star Wars demo was more promising, taking advantage of its eye tracking I was impressed how accurate the shooting was.. always knew I was a two gun badass.

Kinda want to send it back, but really feel it’s unfair as I don’t have a complete game to really try on it. Kayaking alone sounds interesting, haven’t had an actual fun workout game before.

So overall, like the PS5 itself, PSVR2 sucks, at least for now? I still have zero reason to own a PS5. Now seems like zero reason to own a PSVR2. What a shame.

I guess I'll just stick with Quest 2 (for now) and using it for PC VR gaming. Still seems like the best choice. Plus, I can hook things up 100% wireless, unlike PSVR2. What a joke.

I was looking to be jealous of all of you, but looks like I'm far from it. The shit should of been mind-blowing. Yet seems like Quest 2 (hooked up to a PC), still does it better.

I don't know where you picked up all of that from, you must hate PlayStation or something as PS5 has loads of great games as reasons to own it. You just come over as a PC elitist. Honestly, I just got done with GT7 in VR and it's AMAAAAZING. I totally got the HDR and OLED from this experience now. Definitely the most impressive thing on the headset so far. Absolutely blown away.

After the first moment I played the Astrobot Playroom demos, I was convinced PSVR1 was a keeper, and wasn't going to send it back, but every gamer has different goals of what they're looking for with a VR headset. The addition of blu ray 3D playback with PSVR1 also helped a lot.

Of course I got it on sale for 199.99 brand new for the base headset (no move sticks) for PSVR1 a year after the 2016 release, where it was originally priced at 399.99 or so. 349.99 without the move sticks. That was a huge sale, but it only lasted a short time, for about 2 weeks. Then the price was back to full price again.
I'm going to predict by Holiday Thanksgiving or December 2023, PSVR2 will drop from 599.99 or 549.99 to 349.99 or 399.99. $200 off to inspire more sales, but only for a short 2 week span or so.

If it gets to 249.99 by December 2024, I'll jump in at that point if the game library has grown to 200 fun games to choose from, with lower priced games on sale. I spent hundreds on PSVR1 games, but looking back, only a few must have gems. A lot of clunker games in there, but still neat to test out once.

Does Quest 2 allow for blu ray 3D playback? That would be something the PSVR2 doesn't have.

What are the best games that you play on PC?
Do you ever have issues where the games ever crash the PC?
What are your PC specs for games?
Also, what are the best Quest 2 games that you have played?
How is the resolution for Quest 2?

Does anyone know if walking dead saints and sinners will support the teleporting movement? I have no issues with teleporting but if I’m moving in VR with the sticks I feel pretty sick. Might need to only stick with teleporting movement type of games

What cable did you use? I see some that say 5gb transfer speed and some that say 10gb. I assume the 10gb is required.
I need about 6' more for my area.
