Default Can some suggest a Desktop PC for Blu-ray movie rendering

I currently have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR570 laptop with a BD-R dirve but I am lookibg for a powerfull Desktop to do HD movies that can render my HD movies to BD-R. I know that there are limited programs out there that can atually do it but I was looking for a Quad core extreme PC. I have about $3-4k to spend. Any info would be greatly appriciated.

You don't need the extreme cpu for that. You can get a regular quad and over clock and get just about the same performance. The extreme in nice but over rated for its price.

Alienware has some very powerful desktops, after getting and alienware pc the only hurdle will be waiting for the software for rendering.

There was a thread a while back about a blu-ray system. Think the guy found the specs on a commercial site like "Toms Hardware" you may want to look there so you dont have to reinvent.

With todays chips there is little reason to overclock as a poster above suggested especially for what you are asking for.
