As I said earlier, I have the 50" Panasonic 3D plasma. If you put sharpness at 100% and 0%, you can see the difference. It is a lot more subtle as you slowely go through the range. I ended up around 25 as the current setting. Be sure to turn off all of the extra features in the display. It has a lot that add additional artifacts.
Stacey, as a person that can really appreciate picture quality, how do you like your Panny 3D Plasma? That's likely going to be my next purchase. 65" though.

Default Pioneer BDP-320

Decided to keep the Pioneer BDP-320 Blu ray player, and inserted the S&M test disc. Loads properly, then I go to the test patterns. The first and second load properly and play, but 3 - 7 don't. Nothing displays on those, just a black screen. Anyone else have the same issue?

Do you have a second player to try the disc in? Has it worked before?

Either way, the disc can be swapped out.

Thanks Stacey.
I wouldn't think that it's the disc, as it plays fine is all my non-Pioneer BD players. I was just wondering if someone else had the same experience with that model Pioneer BD player, and that I may have something set wrong on the player itself, although it plays every movie that I've put in it.

How did you reboot your player? Is this more than just unplugging it?

Yes you hold the power on button and the stop buttons at the same time on the player itself. It is a factory reboot, and you'll have to re-input your settings.
I love your disc by the way, and recommend it to all.

We will have something for audio sometime in Q2, we hope.

We are spending a lot of time looking at pink noise right now.

On the subject of audio, what are people looking for? What is missing from other discs you would like to see? What do you like about other discs?

We ran out of blue filters, which are hand built. They shipped from the manufacturer yesterday. Hopefully they will be in stock end of this week or early next.

Cool. Thanks. What of the plans to start including audio tests and so forth?

We plan to include audio and 3D on our next disc, which we hope to have out by the end of the year.

Are there specific audio tests you are looking for?

No. I'm pretty clueless about this sort of stuff, which is why i'd like an all-in-one comprehensive package (and it seems your disc will provide that once audio is added), which would allow me to optimize my picture and sound without having to spend $300 on an avical pro calibration. I'm still operating with only 2.0 stereo, so i'd like to take the dough i save and round out a solid 5.1 surround setup.

Is your disc helpful for all types of displays? I have 61" LED DLP from Samsung. The last models they made.

Dear Stacey,

What an incredible surprise, I had to look twice!

To begin, I can happily confirm that this disc will work with no trouble in UK PS3 Phat (of which we have 2) and MAIDSTON MD-BR-2102 blu-multiregion players.

Up until recently I had always considered myself to have a fairly good eye to PQ and its associated settings. Then we got a Video Essentials Laserdisc (I know, retro kid!) and I was surprised at just how much of a real difference it has made to out LDs. So when I started doing some research into such a disc for our Bluray players I was not quite so cocky.

We bought our S&M disc about a month ago. Again, what a difference. It does take a short while for you to get used to the new settings as things do look different, but then you really do start to see all the extra things within the picture.

It is so rare to be able to thank a person like yourself, directly, for a product like this, so I am not going to miss my chance...

You have helped to make our system work better and to put out a much cleaner and sharper picture than we'd had previously - which after all is the whole point of going HD in the first place.

Thank you from the UK.

What the avical calibration gives you is that you can't do at home without spending a lot of money is the grayscale adjustment. You need a meter to do that correctly.
