Selling Steelbooks

I know, not what everyone wants to talk about but I have come to a point that I need to sell some of mine. Where have people found to sell Steelbooks for a decent price? All my local places will only give me a couple dollars. Any thoughts on selling them? Thanks.

Sell them in the trading section of this forum or try eBay.

I really wish there were an easy way. I've got a decent amount of them and rent is due.

eBay. Look at sold listings to see what they are going for, take good pictures and ship first class. Mine go in a day or two almost always.

Why not ship Media Mail and save a few bucks?

Media mail can take a while to get and has a higher risk of being opened.

For two reasons: 1.) If you ship First Class you automatically get 5 in the Ebay ratings system for sellers and 2.) With Media Mail, the USPS has the right to open and inspect your package. Do you really trust USPS to put your item back in the packaging as neatly and precisely as you did?

I had no idea they had the right to inspect it! Why do they, but not with first class? Wonder if that’s what happened: a seller claims the steelbook he sold me was mint when he had it. I bought it, opened it up, and he had a cut on the front and scratches on the back. Either he’s lying about it, or USPS did open it and did that.

I just feel like for some non-valuable movies and SBs that extra $3 saved makes a difference. I’ll really have to re-consider things with this new knowledge though!

Media mail can be opened by the post office because the rates are so much cheaper than other services. So they can (randomly?) open packages to make sure its actually media, and not regular mail being shipped at a cheaper price.

As for your case, I think I remember seeing your post on it and the guy gave you partial money back if I remember correctly. It was likely he was responsible for the damage.I don't see USPS wasting that much time taking your item out and damaging multiple panels on it.

I’ve sold a lot of things on eBay and also Amazon. I’ve had the USPS directly open one of my packages that I was mailing right in front of me when I tried to use media mail. And what I was sending did classify as media mail. It was really frustrating. Since then, I’ve mainly tried to use 1st class. It definitely helps your seller ratings too. I usually just state on the comments of what I’m selling that postal rates have gone up and I’ll be shipping it 1st class to better guarantee condition and handling time.

I'm a seller on ebay, and If I only have to ship one movie, I always ship it First Class but if it's two movies or more, then I use Media Mail because, Media Mail is the same rate up to 70 lbs. As far as the USPS opening and inspect my packages I don't mind it because, I'm not trying to ship any items that's not appropriate for Media Mail. I don't think the USPS have the time to open, inspect and reseal every single package that's being shipped Media Mail anyway because, it will take up too much of their time, unless they have a X-Ray scanner conveyor, which I don't think they do.

After shipping and fees most titles won't net a whole lot If you are selling due to a financial situation you might look around to see if there is something to part with that has some actual monetary value on the used market.
