howdy! new to 4k steelbooks (not new to blu-rays).
Saving Private Ryan, A Quiet Place and many many titles simply re-purpose the blu-ray steelbook and throw the 4k discs in there with a j-card. are you guys OK with this? i just thought that all steelbook collectors are OCD. wouldn't this be a dividing point? i'm thinking of getting rid of them just cause they are a "stain" on Ultra HD. |

I guess on the bright side for those that swap 4K discs into old blu-ray steels it makes it a little less obvious which were custom and which came that way new.
Also do you want to guess how many of the releases on this top shelf are original 4K Steelbook releases? Without an expert knowledge of each release you would never know. ![]() The answer is all of them. Half of these don't even come marked 4K OR Blu-Ray at all, so they aren't all doing it anyway. I count a total of 7 out of 40. If we throw in the last three on the left bottom row it's 8/43 or only 18%. You'll also notice that Paramount is the only one doing them at all, at least in my collection. The 13 Hours/ Coming to America/ War of the Worlds have a tiny shrunk down version of the Ultra logo that is much more difficult to notice too. The Saving Private Ryan you mentioned is the only paramount release here that doesn't have it. I would almost prefer if none of these had Ultra on the spines because as mentioned it is such a small percentage anyway. The Blu-Ray only steels on the bottom look more uniform without it. i mean certain titles you can import from beyond best buy like zaavi, filmarena etc but it’s just crazy… i mean those that collect steelbooks are ocd to begin with… but really… how deep down this rabbit hole does everyone go, right?
i’m split… i may just get the ones that either dont have format logo or have ultrahd only |

I put 4K discs into BD steels all the time. It's always a plus if the spine doesn't note whether it's BD or 4KUHD. It seems most Universal and Lionsgate don't specify.
Here are pretty much all of the BD steels I have that now house a 4K disc if anyone is interested... [Show spoiler] Who could fault me? I mean look at that gorgeous Evil Dead II steel vs the standard 4K packaging? I also have custom spine magnets on all the MCU and Star Wars to align them.
