Question Terminator 2 - Original vs. Skynet Question - and one T3 question.

Those of you who have watched both versions, including the original T2 release, and then the Skynet edition re-release, how noticeable would you say the technical differences are, meaning the PQ/AQ? I'm reading the reviews right now, but trying to get some user's perspectives on the matter.

Also, would you recommend T3? I loved 1 and 2, really liked 4, but always heard negatives about 3 - might just rent it, instead of owning them like the others. What do you fine chaps think?

I just finished seeing the original T2 release (which I remember being proud of for getting for $8 a year and a half ago) - and got curious.

I personally liked t3. it put an end to the whole stop judgment day idea and made it more of an inevitability. The latter part of the movie has a military CIA office type of feel to it. It's neat, I like it.

Rent T3..
I would not ever recommend it, but if you should decide to buy it, I've read the UK version should be better, I'm not sure how but I'm thinking better audio?

The UK and Australian version of T3 have lossless audio, the US release is lossy. Also the skynet edition released in Australia has noticibly less DNR applied then the US version and is region free.

Thanks!
The Skynet has noticably less DNR applied to it?
How come...
I've actuaclly considered to buy the T2 Premium Edition Japanese SteelBook™

I've read it's supposed to have better PQ, although marginally better or something.

In regards to T3: the story is a nice continuation and shows what happens, the action is somewhat good, cool scene here and there but the script and dialogue were no good IMO. I would definitely recommend renting over buying blindly. I own 1,2, and 4 if that tells you anything.

You may have misunderstood me, the Australian Skynet edition of T2 has less DNR then the American skynet release. The Japanese release is meant to have even better PQ then the Aus skynet release. That bieng said, given the levels of DNR I would never buy it, and on top of that i'm not really much of a fan of the film (though I have it as I got it as a gift as I did enjoy T3).

My suggestion?

Get JPN T2. If not possible or too expensive, get UK T2 (like I did).
If you like T3, then also get the UK edition.

I've found that all Terminator transfers to far seem to be better in UK than US.

I liked T3, you really should watch it so you know how it leads into t4. You got to love Dr silverman too. lol. Just watch how the rear hubcap flys off the car and magically re-appears on the car in one scene. lol, good action movie.

T3 is like 10 bucks. It's a worthy action movie for 10 bucks whether you think it's amazing or just OK. Get it.

Thumbs up

Between the original T2 BD and the Skynet Edition, the SE is a better quality and you don't really haveta get it outside the country either if you don't feel like waiting for it to show up in the mail. It's well under 20 bucks no matter what US store you walk into.

As for T3, it introduces Kate Brewster! If you're wondering how her and John met, it's very important in that aspect. You also get a clue about why she was pregnant. It's the one that introduces the T-800 with NUCLEAR fuel cells. We getta see the start of Judgment Day! The robot effects are very cool; They are shown to be extremely heavy (at one point Ah-nold becomes a frickin' wrecking ball down a crowded street as he swings from a crane!) and tough as nails, just like they should be. The T-800 VS T-X fight is WILD! I mean, since this chick is a robot, Ah-nold just wails on her! He beats her down worse than any terminator before and she can take it! These reasons and more make it a must as being apart of the series for me. It is a little silly at times ("Talk to the hand"), but I actually laugh at it. I never really liked the "Hasta la vista, baby" crap from T2. The slang lil' John Connor was talkin', wasn't any slang I'd heard before (or at least used in a while without sounding like a douche), so I don't get the hate toward the intentionally goofy stuff said in T3.

I agree! Too much hate on T3. I say buy it! Its a very important factor in the franchise! I really don't even see how you just skipped it and went straight to T4.

I did not misunderstand you, just forgot to elaborate!
And I think you're some kind of anomaly, I rarely hear people say they're no fans of it

I think I'll buy the Steel next year, it'll be my first!

T3 was actually a terrible movie. Until T4 came along and made it really good.
If you can strictly follow Cameron's vision, the story ends at T2.
But if you enjoyed T4, you must take a look at T3.

It's not a horrible movie per se. It's just that T2 had such an incredible amount of flair in it that no other Terminator movies is able to match. T3 is an interesting exploration of many characters. How life is like without Sarah Connor. What John Connor is up to all this while. And the characters that traveled back in time had different reasons than previous movies, so it's actually very interesting to watch.

Target has T3 for 9.99 and they have a $5 off coupon so it is well worth it for 5 bucks. I own T2 SKYNET, not the best video I have ever seen but the audio is great, much better than the original T2 that came out audio wise.
The extra's on the skynet version are great, alot better than what you see on the original.
I rented Salvation and seen it in theaters, audio/video on blu was great I was just not as impressed with the movie.

I still don't own any of the Terminator movies on bluray, maybe one day. However I really liked T3 and if one is getting 1, 2 and 4 it makes no sense skipping 3.

I'd recommend T3, not as good as T2 or Salvation but it was enjoyable. If you can rent it for less than say $6 do that, but if not, just buy it from Amazon, it is like $9.50 last I saw.

I rented the first release and it was pretty bad. I finally just ordered the new skynet edition, so I'm looking forward to seeing it. As far as the quality of T3 - it's ok, I saw it in the theater and thought it was passable, but it's really weak when you compare it to the severely superior Terminator 1 - which is my favorite out of all of them.
