I just up-graded my whole bedroom HT, with a Yamaha rx-v765 receiver and samsung 46B750, emotiva XPA-3, and all new Polk speakers.
My question is: Right now I have ALL hdmi's from the xbox 360, playstation 3, and Dish box going to the into the receiver and then from the hdmi out on the receiver to the TV, is this the right way to hook it all up? Or should I take ALL the hdmi's from everything to the TV and the TV out to the receiver? And for some reson when I turn on the Receiver/TV/Dish with the harmony one remote, everything comes on right, receiver ( hdmi 1 ) TV on, dish hd box on, and after a few seconds the receiver will jump over to AUX 1,( WHY? ) and then TV goes black... So what in the world? Last edited by xtreme02gt; 01-20-2010 at 07:45 PM. |

#2) It sounds like your start-up sequence may not be in the best order. Try having the receiver turn on first before anything else. I believe if the TV comes on first or before the receiver, then it will screw up the Input source when the receiver is turned on. |

When I get home I will change up my harmony one remote to turn the receiver on first, then everything else. My Tv has a timer, i have it set to come on @ 5:30am ( alarm clock ) but, why will the receiver not come on, when the TV powers on? Samsung as that antynet or whatever it is called.. Is there a way to set it up to do that? Always worked before, I think cause the TV and receiver were both Sony. |

I first had my DVR, BD player and X360 going to the receiver first and then to the T.V. this lasted about 5mins.
The HDMI Input on my TV for the X360 has different settings then the input for the BD and DVR.The X360 Input has game mode on which by passes all the signal processing and reduces lag. The DVR input has 3:2 pull down enabled. BD input has all of that disabled as well as the over scan function. Using the AVR as a Video switcher and only using one input on the TV was forcing me to adjust TV settings depending on what device the receiver was outputting. I prefer the X360 and the DVR go to the TV first. My TV will pass the DD5.1 over optical (won't do DTS though) so I still get surround sound from games as well as Sat and OTA broadcasts. YMMV |

1)All HDMI runs from each piece of equipment that is HDMI compatible (I assume all have HDMI outputs) to different HDMI inputs of the receiver. 2) Then an HDMI run to the TV HDMI input from the single HDMI output of the receiver.
