So by what I'm reading, the "corrected" disc was never included when purchased, and was only available through the replacement program? I might try my luck with the steelbook.

Took a gamble, and ordered the 4K steelbook when it was $17 yesterday for DOTD.

Needless to say, (unless they sneakily fixed the brightness issues, too) the gamble was lost.

So people know, the replacement disc is now being included in the wide release.

That's not true. It was definitely included when purchased. I tracked down a used copy specifically to avoid the replacement disc.

From when I scrolled through the thread, I couldn't find any post saying someone buying it from a store got the replacement disc. There was a lot of people saying they did get the old disc. Besides there were people wondering which disc the steelbook had, and I just confirmed it had the new one.

I’ve watched the replacement disc on my LG 65CX via Panny 820 with DV enabled.

I did not notice any brightness issues.

Is there any specific scene anyone can direct me to that is problematic?

I’d like to see if I can see it if I know where to look.

My order from Amazon arrived yesterday and this was the shape it was in:

A giant tear in the back poster and two holes in the plastic wraparound. The thing is, the entire thing was shrinkwrapped; the tear and holes in the wrap were underneath the shrinkwrap. The shrinkwrap was sticky, it wasn't shiny and smooth as it normally is on new factory items. My guess is that the item was used, sold to someone who damaged it and returned it to Amazon, who then re-wrapped it and sold it to me as new (this is bought from Amazon.com, not a third party seller). I haven't tried it but I wouldn't be surprised if the digital code inside the case was redemed by the previous owner.

The wonderful audio is the saving grace of the disc anyway.

Hi there, i wish i had gone on this thread before i purchased the 4k steelbook. Didnt realise there were brightness issues. I bought mine on amazon.com my disc had brightness issues towards the end. Can anyone plse tell me where i can get a replacement disc. Is there an email for replacement discs. If anyone can plse help me i would be most grateful. Thnx in advance.

The only way to solve the "brightness" issue is to stumble upon the original pressing of Grease with the red blip that lasts for a split second. Paramount has never issued a third replacement disc to fix the brightness fluctuation issues on the second pressing that was made after fixing the red blip.

While they were at it... they should have removed the goddamn horrible DNR!! It makes the movie look like a smeary wax job.

Oh dear, i got my steelbook today. So the brightness flickers are on the replacement disc and not on the original disc? Which is the better, the original disc or replacement? If you could clarify all this for me. Thnx in advance

The original disc has the blink and you'll miss it glitch, but the HDR10 and 12 bit Dolby Vision layers have correct brightness levels. The brightness issue was introduced in the second pressing (such as the steelbook). They fixed one small issue and introduced a huge one.

Mine only has brightness fluctuations towards the end, unless i missed something, didnt realise the problem was throughout, will have to watch it again.

OMG! What a disaster, will they be doing a 3rd replacement disc for customers who have the stuffed discs? This is so unfair and unacceptable.

No. That's why I would try to seek out the first pressing. It will be a hard fought slog, but worth it.

If they haven't fixed it by now I'd say they don't plan, to since this happened quite a while ago. All we can hope is someday it will get some new "Anniversary" release and get fixed at that point. Or maybe another region will release it and it will be corrected, but that's unlikely since this is a major studio release.
