Question XBox One / S / X (XB1) - 3D playback

The PS4 still doesn't have this functionality, but MS' new platform will have it.

Edit: Corrected for accuracy.

I'm glad to see one of the two major consoles actually adding it. Hopefully, this will give Sony the push to go on and add it to the PS4.

That's great news!
Now maybe Sony will add 3DBD playback to the PS4.

I guarantee that these forums are going to have a lot of people posting stuff like:
"I put a 3D Blu-ray in my Xbone and it won't play. Do I need a 3D TV to watch 3D Blu-rays?"

Just for the sake of accuracy, the OP is wrong as per availability.

Afaik, the B3D update will occur next week - for early access users-.

There is no specific date (though august is probable) for the general XB1 population to have this function.

Now hopefully, that anouncement will light a fire under Sony to roll out more significant updates for the PS4, as they have been quite lax in that regard imo.

PS4 has been so disappointing thus far imho. A couple games available...MS pushing the industry lol. Sony must be on to much coke and vay-k in Vegas or sumthinz.

Default XBox One S

I just purchased and received one of these today. I've never heard it mentioned that it plays 3d Blu-ray, but it does. I just got it because my local rental place has 3 times the titles than for other machines, and it plays 4k if I get a new TV eventually. I also noticed that, for at least my LG plasma, it happily accepts the video from the 4k disk. (I know it isn't in the increased resolution). This would be great if they would do more 4k with 3d releases. I won't need to worry about whether a release has a regular blu or not.

Just thought I would add, for anyone interested, that when searching Vudu, the xbox doesn't 'see' the 3d movies. I switched over to my LG to confirm that Vudu didn't drop them.

The Vudu app doesn't support 3D playback so they won't show up in that app.

That's weird, it looks the same as the VUDU app on my TV. I wonder why they would leave that out but support 3d blu ray. Not that it matters, but they are so close to having everything I want in one box.

Its a software limitation of the XBox UI, the Blu-ray player being made by Microsoft is one of the few apps allowed to access the 3D capability of the system.

Question XBOX One X

Does anyone know if XBOX One X (scorpio edition or regular one) will support 3D blu-ray playback?

I've just got my G6 from LG and looking for 4K+3D player. I'm a big fan of 3d movies so 3d support is critical.

I wonder if someone's actually tested 3d playback already. Or if there is any official tech specification doc that lists 3d support. Can't find it myself.

I was able to play the documentary disc from 'Kingdom of Plants 3D' with the Xbox one S, which I thought was region B. My (now deceased) Panasonic and (still alive) Sony BD players wouldn't play the disc. Does anyone know if the Xbox is region free? I kinda doubt it, but I'm not sure why it will play the disc and the stand alone players won't.

I literally just bought a Xbox One S on Monday and I tried to play Transformers The Last Knight in 3D and it was not working. I thought it was my TV or 3D glasses at first cause it was really weird. The TV was in 3D mode and the movie was playing just fine but it was only playing one eye. Basically it was playing in 2D in 3D mode. Put my regular panasonic blu-ray player on it and playback was perfect. Has anyone else ran into this problem and there any way to fix it?

I'm not an Xbox guy, but I think there's an Audio/Video options area.

When you get to TV settings, I think you can do Auto-detect for features.

Or you can edit your TV settings on Xbox and just check the 3D box.

After that, I assume it would allow 3D playback for you.

If you already had 3D checked, then this sounds like a glitch.

I have done this and I'm still getting this problem. I have not checked for an update but I will. The TV is in 3D mode correctly but the Xbox seems to putting out a 2D picture in 3D mode.
