Default The Ego Room

Recently I completed a dream of mine - a dedicated home theater.

It's a 7.4.1 system, but only the two fronts, the center and the sub are visible:

There are 6 hidden speakers in this image. Two surrounds, two back surrounds and two rear ceiling speakers. A bit further ahead from the seating position are two more ceiling speakers:

The projector (Sony SXRD HW40-ES) is housed in a custom enclosure. On the inside it is lined with noise reducing material (I can't hear a thing). On the outside it is covered with the same fabric covering the walls and ceiling to make it fit in seamlessly. You don't even notice it when entering the room:

The radiator was painted with a non-reflective black paint. The windowsill and the windows themselves are covered in a black film - the latter to block out light:

To avoid reflections from the foot panels the carpet covers them:

The metal frame around the screen (Lissau True Colour 100") has been covered in non-reflective fabric so I can project the image slightly ontop of it to fill out the screen perfectly without it being visible:

The ceiling was lowered around the ceiling edges to make room for hiding cables and the 11 impulse spotlights:

I couldn't be happier with the result.

Looks great! Did you use stick on Velvet for the screen? thinking about doing something similar with my DIY screen!

Great job and congrats on a wonderful finished room!

Thanks!

Not sure what you would call it in English, “fabric” was probably not the right word. It’s a kind of sponge-like material if that makes sense.

Just curious as to why you've started a new thread.

Sorry, it might’ve been redundant. I thought the other subforum was mainly for work-in-progress/the process of building a home theater while this one was for showing the finished product.

No harm done, you can add any additional comments and photos to your existing thread.

Love the chair, I am not a big fan of the "Theater" style chairs as they are fixed and who really wants to sit in the second row anyway. I kinda do not like Theaters so I do not Model my setup like one. I kind of have the same setup but with 3 movable seats. comes in handy if you want to adjust the distance of your seating position to the screen. Great Setup ! Love the Black
