This monster weighs in at about 200 pounds and about 350 pounds crated. We had a dickens of a time unloading it and getting it out of the crate and into the living room.

Unfortunately, I have a small living room (about 11' X 12') until I move. So, it is placed in basically the only available spot at this point, so it is not optimized, but we did adjust the output to match the other speakers in the system. I could slide the sub on the carpet and placed the footers under it once we set the unit in place. Optimum or more optimized placement will need to wait till I move and either build a house and prepare a room or buy a house and build a room (I would like something about 20' X 35' preferably with a 10' ceiling). This is why I do not want to post the home theater until it is ready, though I may post some of the equipment without really showing how it is set-up in the room.

Once I put this big sub on top of the footers (rather than flat on the floor) along with my really good sub cable it helped to reduce any standing waves and it put out a tremendous amount of clean bass that was quite deep and amazingly fast.

This is from the Herbies Website. I just hope this doesn't start another "range war", but these are the ones:



They are made of brass with a neutralizing material and are available with and without adhesive. I purchased/used 4 and got mine without the adhesive; once the subwoofer was positioned, I tilted the subwoofer and just slid the footers in place.

Here is the description (they also used to be available with frosted domes which may still be available if you contact them):

How much of a difference is there? Are they equivalent to something like a Gramma or SubDude?

I thought it was a very decided and noticeable affect. The sub at least to me sounded more defined, cleaner, tighter, more precise, probably faster, and not as boomy.

Hate that I can't get to his page at work. However, I remember looking at them before- are they the ones with the "ball" at the top? How exactly does that work?

Hmm. I'm wondering about the Gramma and how it would affect my eD and my DIY front-firing sub. Dobyblue has a Gramma but I'm wondering if anyone with an eD has tried it.

They are a neutralizing disk with a brass dome sitting on top. They have these dimensions: 1" (26mm) by .77" (19.6mm) high (may vary slightly), and cost $10.69 each (add $1.00 for the adhesive).

This is the description: Use this burnished antique brass de-coupling dome instead of cones or spikes for a highly detailed, dynamic and musical sound. Thick layer of Herbie's dBNeutralizer(tm) material absorbs micro-vibrations. Great under loudspeakers and amp platforms on wood floor or thin, low-pile carpet (for deep carpet or rug, or if carpet has spongy under-layer, use carpet spikes).

Domes can be used either side up. For use with loudspeakers on thin carpet, dome-side down is recommended.

As I have mentioned before, these have a 90 day trial period. If they do not work or work as well as another product, just return them and only pay for shipping.

you are using the epik in a small room how does that work out for you??? And It seems like you have some good gear and you listen to music , how is that Epik on music thats all I really care about since any 500 dollar sub can rattle the walls .... I might try some Black Diamon Racing Pucks and cones for my sub I have quite a few laying around ... I like them for my audio gear.. TY

I only use it on music occasionally. I usually only rely on the totally rebuilt and upgraded Dahlquist DQ-10 cabinets (all new drivers, cross over, etc.) for music. I have an eye on a set of proto-type towers that I may get once they are finished, I have a listen to them, and move to my new location. So far these have speced out to 16 Hz alone (these are mirror imaged pair about 6' tall and 30" wide with 8 dome tweeters, 8 dome mids, and 16 woofers for a total of 32 drivers per tower).

Yes, I am using the Conquest in a small room. But, the sub is calibrated to the rest of the speakers and I have it crossed over for Home Theater for the Center and rear channels as I recall at 60? Hz. It does quite well in the Home Theater.

the reason is that Epik is about 40 miles from my house so I could pick one up when Im in town...So Im interested in them but its hard to buy a sub from an online retailer , not because of quality but most people dont listen to a sub for music ... So If I cant demo it I dont really want to buy it ,, I dont have time to send one back ...

Give them a call. I spoke with the designer before buying. He also designs his own speakers. Maybe, since you are so close, you could try to have them make a demo with one of or several of their subs.
