After that they become terribly childish and soft, repeating the same gags over and over merely in different locations. I also think Art Metrano was totally brilliant as the slimy 'Mauser' and way better than 'Harris'.

Basically without that slight adult edge to them the films are pretty poor, number 4 being the worst for me. Number 5 did slightly get back on track and 6 had some nice noir-ish visuals but that's about it. 7 had the right idea but was just bad.

You gotta be a real PA nut to own all of them haha

I to have re-watched all 7 recently and while I did enjoy most of them I do agree that they did over use many gags in each film and after the 2nd film thay did become more family friendly. I did enjoy numbe 4 for me number 5 and 7 are the worst. However I have always liked G.W.Bailey peformances as Harris.

Arrived today, each film has its own seperate disc.
The covers are all the same as the cover of the box set, so awful.
On the back there is descriptions of each film with credits but the posters are on there but with different colour border surroundings.
For £25.44 its great value but the design of the covers is just awful.

Hey

So can anyone please let us know what the Picture and Sound is like for these movies.

Are the all in widescreen
What is the sound DTSHD 2.0
Are the movies uncut, remastered
any special features.

Any other info you can provide would be great.

seen a few people got the box cheaper, I'm from Australia and good sites you recommend for getting a copy sent.

Thanks

Aussie

The cover art really is terrible, but was expected from the pics. Still waiting on my copy from Sainbury's which was shipped on Monday.

All movies are in anamorphic widescreen 16 x 9 with DTS-HD Master Audio in 1.0.
The discs all have the following audio in 1.0 :-
Brazilian Portuguese
Cashilion Spanish
German
Latin Spanish
Subtitles :-
English,
Brazilian Portuguese,
Cashilion Spanish,
Danish,
Finnish,
French,
German,
Latin Spanish,
Norwegian,
Swedish.
Special features by film
1 :- Commentary with Director Hugh Wilson,Producer Paul Maslanky and actors Steve Guttenberg,GW Bailey,Leslie Easterbrook and Michael Winslow ( I recall having read somewhere that George Gaynes was involved in a commentary for the first movie but according to the features on the back he is not on there).
Behind Academy Doors: Secret Files Revealed (featurette).
2 :- Accidental Heroes :The Best Of Police Academy (featurette)
3 :- All Washed Up:Floating Memories
4 :- Remembering a Lofty Investigation,Deleted Scenes, Winks Behind The Scenes Movies
5 :- Mistaken Identity :Case Re-opened
6 :- Unholy Alliance : A Retrospective
7 :- Underneath the Mission
That's the complete set of information for the discs,a bargain at £25.44.
Now for the dilemma ,wait for the price to go down,at £42 on amazon it is not worth it unless you have to have it.
Also next year is the 30th anniversary,at a guess I'm thinking that the US will have a box set released next year with potentially more features and better cover art.
I picked it up at a reasonable price,I'm not into extras personally,I hardly get time to watch the movies I have so rarely watch extra features and can't recall visiting extra features again on a disc in years.
I don't need to tell you about the cover art but there's sites out there that will have better covers up in a matter of time to replace the current travesty.

Nope. Nothing additional over the DVD version.
The numbers in the above post correspond to the particular film. In that case, the "deleted scenes" are only for part 4, which was on the DVD for that movie.

As far a picture quality I think these all look great, with the exception of part 3, which unfortunately has been hit pretty hard with the DNR stick. This is something I don't expect from Warner, so I'm unpleasantly surprised. Here are a couple of shots, I'm reminded a bit of The Sword in the Stone.

But Aside from that these look very good. It's too bad this couldn't have happened to one of the later entries instead.
