Just ordered it here & it stayed at 39.99 throughout for me. My confirmation email says 39.99, blu-ray & limited edition packaging. |

https://store.hmv.com/film-tv/blu-ra...tion-season-12 Presumably this will include all bonus material from all previous editions (there would be complaints if it doesn't), something however that may prove problematic if and when certain Troughton and Pertwee series get the blu-ray treatment but there's an obvious work around regarding that "problem" (keep the original DVDs) |

Yes, I just put it back in the cart and it reflected the £39.99 price all the way through. My pre-order from last night also dropped to reflect the new lower price. My guess is that Si Parallel Universe was looking at the listings here and on Amazon just as a price shift was occurring--certainly, sometimes it will take a few minutes for our site to reflect price changes.

This new logo is not okay on the Classic Who episodes.
(for this part, it's not okay on any episodes before the upcoming season 11) |

I personally quite like the inclusion of the new logo on this set. There were rumours circulating last year regarding the logo, saying that Chibnall was keen to tie the brand together and I think it makes perfect sense. One show, one logo. If the BBC have any sense they won't change the logo again. It should be a constant - other shows manage just fine!
Pre-Ordered this (couldn't say no at £40) - hoping they sell enough to justify more... Would be cool if Series 1-10 (of 'NuWho') and S11 onwards were also released in this packaging style... I can just imagine a whole set of these lined up on the shelf ![]() |

Any Season 12 extras from other releases are being moved across to this release.
On another Who forum, one of the main people who deal with the releases mentioned that this will happen with any future releases of the blu-rays. Season specific material will be moved. And I love the new logo, it looks nice on this release. |

Given in and pre-ordered.
This will only be the second Dr Who I'll have on disc... and the first of the TV series (the other being the Dalek 60's movies). But, Tom baker is the Doctor I grew up with - and so many of the stories have stuck with me... Ark in Space - whilst laughable in it's use of bubble wrap now, scared the hell out of me (due to the slow transformation) when I watched as a kid - glued to a 'massive' 19" B&W CRT TV ![]() And Genesis of the Daleks was amazing in it's mash-up of WW1 meets WW!! (with mutants)... so ahead of it's time, It fired up my artistic imagination for years (until Star Wars came along)... and still, IMHO, one of the best Who stories ever. I've tried to like New Who... but I just can't get into it. Controversially, I liked Matt Smith most... but have only watched a couple of Capaldi ones... so this box set is going to be a rare treat, and a walk down Nostalgia Street ![]() |

The Years tapes were supposed to be rare episodes so with Hartnell and Troughton you had isolated episodes from incomplete stories and with Pertwee there were still a few gaps at the time and certainly a lot of the episodes were only B&W so the Pertwee intro was a bonus. I think at the time the Davison and McCoy years were not as widely regarded although I think there would have been tapes had JNT not been sacked |

You're almost certainly right about why we never got Davison and McCoy editions. EDIT: Have just went and found my Colin Baker Years tape, along with Tom Baker Years and The Curse of the Fatal Death one of only three Who VHS tapes I still own, and plan to watch it tonight. Will report back re contents if anyone cares. Last edited by Fnord Prefect; 03-08-2018 at 01:18 PM. |

So will this be from a tape source? If so, while the bitrate could improve things a little from the DVDs, I imagine the main draw will be the new extras, collectors packaging and maybe cost (not sure what the equivalent DVD pricing would be).
