So, while we probably won't be getting a home video release anytime soon, not as long as Rubinstein is playing hard to get, at least it does not look like it is going to disappear again.

I wonder if the print will be stored in a private collection, or whether it will be donated to the Foundation, as they hoped for, so scholars can at least access it at the University of Pittsburgh.

Talking of private collections, doesn't someone own an UNCUT print of one of Bruce Lee's ENTIRELY HK produced films, ie one of the ones HKL released on DVD & for some reason won't let anyone use it?

No idea about Bruce Lee but it's fairly common knowledge that a private collector has an uncut print of A Star is Born (1954) but won't give it to Warner Bros.

Fred Weintraub is said to own an uncut Mandarine print of THE BIG BOSS, because he was friends with Bruce Lee and Lee sent him a print prior to the HK premiere.

The reason that this print has never seen the eye of the public maybe a) because Weintraub does not want to give it to anyone else or b) because Golden Harvest, the studio owning the rights to the film, does not allow him to show it to anyone outside his private environment. I think version b) to be more likely.

And someone apparently found and has the Gone with the Wind deleted scenes. King was supposed to have an uncut print of Maximum Overdrive but that didn't turn out to be true. Probably tossed after cleaning out the garage 20-30 years ago.

Someone asked Fred over a decade ago, and he denied having one.

Didn't we also find the 2001 A Space Odyssey deleted scenes and didn't a print of The Shining with the original ending go up for auction recently?

Sadly these things never seem to come out unless the licensors actively want them to.

The 10 mins of deleted scenes for 2001 were found one someone was checking the inventory spreadsheet of film materials and notched there was another column on the right side of the spread sheet. That was supposedly overlooked because no one thought to scroll right.

Warner still have a 35mm print of The Shinning with the longer ending that was supposed to be screened for the 35th Anniversary crew screening but Kubrick's estate would only allow the Kubrick approved US edited to be shown.

I forgot about the 2001 deleted scenes being discovered. I guess the family blocked their inclusion on the UHD.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - I hope we get a choice of aspect ratio.
