Watched it again on Disney+, and enjoyed it more than my first viewing (which I still enjoyed and gave 3.5/5). I just don't think I was crazy about some of the songs the first time, not being a big musical guy, but I guess knowing what to expect, I found them catchier this time. I still love the Bruno one the most. I also have to say, the movie flows incredibly well, time just seems to fly by watching it.

I just finished it on Disney+. I thought this was a lot of fun. Great music and characters. Beautifully animated of course. Feel like this will be very underrated going forward.

Hoping there's a Best Buy steelbook coming soon.

I think it's the front-runner for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, but I haven't seen many of the films being discussed. I still haven't even seen Raya and Luca.

I don't think it deserves to win and I don't think Raya and the Last Dragon deserves to win as well. Luca deserves to win but I hope it doesn't because of the backlash that will come with that. They should just give it to The Mitchells vs The Machines to appease everybody. I don't think it deserves to win, but I prefer that it does instead of the Disney ones.

I thought Luca was the best animated film this year but I know that people will start complaining about Pixar bias because it's not Soul or Inside Out (though imo it was better than both films). It will be like Brave all over again and I don't want it to happen to Luca, I rather it lost to something like Mitchells despite it being loved because it follows popular trends rather than being good on its own merits (like Shrek, like Frozen, like Zootopia).

No, but I'll be glad if it wins. Unfortunately there was only one foreign film that one that category so I doubt it will win.

Mitchells vs Machines should definitely win in my opinion.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Flee nominated or win for Best doc, rather than an animation nom. Have their been films nominated for both categories?

I watched this last night. It's a nice movie. The songs are mostly pleasant sounding, but not very catchy or memorable for me. Maribel is a decently likable main character.

It's my least favorite of the five pandemic era films that Disney and Pixar have released over the last couple of years though.

1. Onward
2. Luca
3. Soul
4. Raya and the Last Dragon
5. Encanto

This film falls toward the end of the pack for me.

1. Soul (4/5)
2. Raya and the Last Dragon (4/5)
3. Luca (3.5/5)
4. Encanto (3.5/5)
5. Onward (3/5)

I enjoyed this quite a bit, but The Mitchells vs the Machines and Luca (couldn't care less about Pixar backlash) are my two favorite animated movies this year. Two extraordinary works of art, compared to this and Raya, which are a lot of fun to watch, but don't distinguish themselves enough imo. Still, I enjoyed them all. Good year for animation, no matter which one you prefer.

So far this is the worst movie of the year for me. And probably the worst disney movie ever. I didn't connect to anything at all in this. It was all just underwhelming to terrible.

I'm glad others seemed to have loved it. Not everything is for everyone. But it's the first movie from disney animated I totally hated.
