Default In the market for a "cheap" or affordable good 4k Blu Ray player.

I'm looking at these two:

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-i37eoy...80.html?tp=171

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Panasonic...sRedirect=true

I'm leaning toward the LG - as it is more than likely going to be the same brand as my soon to be new 4k TV. But I'm open to the Panasonic. Anyone have either of these, I could use some help.

Currently using an Xbox One X - but needing a 2nd one (player) and also the more updates the newer xbox systems get the slower my One X gets, so yeah just wanna get another. This time cheaper, but good. Thanks!

Those are decent, but the LG KM9 has DolbyVision. If you buy around Blk.Friday or hit sales, you don't need to settle for the cheapest model. The brand of your player doesn't need to match your TV. Either of those is fine, but the LG may have more longevity.

Alrighty, I guess we'll see what this holiday season brings with sales and all. =) Cheers!

What's your budget? I'm selling my gently used UPD-820. Only selling because I went to a region free mod.

Wait and see about the free firmware patch.

Too late. I've kinda been itching to get the 9000 and I found a pre-modded one for the same price as one brand new and pulled the trigger. I figured I could recoup at least some of the price by selling my 820.

I'm glad to see a firmware-based region mod is in the works though. That will be a great fallback if the hardware based one ever stops working.

When my Sony X800 crapped the bed I got a cheapo LG to "tide me over" and it actually ended up performing fine and looking great. Plays everything I throw at it without a hitch. Only reason I'm looking to replace it is because my model doesn't do Dolby Vision.

You might get lucky and find one at the local thrift stores. That's how I got mine, for a fraction of the cost.

Yep never know what you'll find in the wild. I picked up a Panasonic UB150 4K player for £7 at a car boot sale the other week as a spare. Also found a UB700 for £25 locally last week.

Only time I ever found a 4K player at thrift was a UB820 that did not read discs. They wanted $69.99 for it and said for parts does not read discs. I bought it and swapped my UB900 drive with it and it works. Not saying you can't get a working one but generally newer tech at thrift is a sign there is likely something wrong with the unit.
