Watched the BD twice already - really good film. Kristen Wiig is superb in it.

Was just reading the review for Bridesmaids, and got to the video quality section which starts off with;

Quote:
Is there any more schizoid studio than Universal currently releasing Blu-rays? While Universal continually offers substandard catalog releases, it just as reliably does knockout work on newer titles, and that's certainly the case with Bridesmaids's AVC encoded 1080p transfer in 2.40:1....
Very true, but should we really just confine our complaints to forums or try and confront Universal about it. According to the Blu-ray Forum Statistics there are 168,740 members, would be good if we could create an open letter to Universal to ask why they deem it necessary to apply DNR etc on catalogue titles and attach a petition with tens of thousands of signatures. Would certainly grab their attention.

I'd be up for that.

I'd sooner own ALL my blus in pink Amarays than own a single copy of that Star Wars set.

Plus it reminds me of an Austin Powers VHS I once had.

Looking at my DVD's I've got clear ones, red ones, yellow ones, black ones, white ones, green ones, blue ones, a purple one AND pink ones. I'm sure there's a silver one in there somewhere but I can't spot it.

Its the United Colours of Benetton compared to my BD's.

I kind of like the pink case, in this instance. It suits the movie, and different coloured cases amuse me. As long as they don't start putting every new film out in a pink case, I won't mind.

Well the slipcase looks nice. Is the case the same colour as the Valentines Day one? (I seem to think that one was a bit more purple.)

So far we've got Pink, Green and Yellow BD amarays - which colour will be next?

The original UK R2 version of The Machinist had a silver amaray if I remember correctly.

Really? I've never seen a copy of The Simpsons Movie on Blu-ray in a yellow case, not a UK copy at least. The DVD has a yellow case, yes, but I didn't think the Blu-ray did.

Also didn't The Human Centipede come in a green amaray (green for totally gross)?

I think the pure lurid colour of the pink suits Bridesmaids, it's almost taking even more of the p**s out of those horrible dresses that get ruined in THAT scene.

Indeed, The Simpsons had a yellow DVD case but I was talking about blu-rays and, specifically, of these releases from Shameless Home Entertainment:

The New York Ripper
Cannibal Holocaust

I've seen them both in stores - they come in slim (US style) yellow amarays.

Only two months old, so there's a good chance. Shops still seem to have plenty of slips, anyway.
