They will get it right, they have a huge pot of money. Will probably buy a studio or two.

Was it a worthy sequel to The Shining? Pretty tough act to follow.

Yes it was. It was different enough not to stand on the original’s toes. It wasn’t a classic like The Shining but it expanded the mythology and had some really great moments. It wasn’t scary as such but it had some disturbing imagery and tense moments. Like I said, Rebecca Ferguson stole the show. I imagine she will be on many people’s lists for best villains soon. The final act was well done also. Long film at 140 minutes but it never dragged for me.

Being able to watch it at 1.5X the normal speed could help with that.

I think I may have heard that rumor somewhere, too, but the guy that spreads these rumors has a piss poor track record at predicting things. I think we're safe.

I wouldn’t say piss poor, EST (Digital HD), UV’s death and the death of FilmStruck were all pretty big deals.

EST isn't dead. UV was replaced. Filmstruck was simply rebranded as The Criterion Channel. Net result nada.

Movies, normal speed playback, the freedom to sit, TVs, and everything else are all still here.

It’s irrelevant if UV was replaced. It still died. It still caused commotion and lost films. It caused a lot of hassle. Let’s stick to the facts. EST is a dead end. I stick by that.

The fact remains I was correct.

You did not predict when, so you get no credit. A chimp flipping a coin could've predicted as much as you did. It was replaced making its departure mostly inconsequential after a bumpy transition for some. Many people got their lost films back once the dust had settled.

You're dead wrong about EST. No way around that. It is obviously still here. You're prediction is an open ongoing one and you get no credit of any kind until when, and if, your prediction comes true.

When will EST die? Give us an approx. date because it has not occurred. We demand the same information from those that predict the death of physical media and we ridicule them if they do not provide it. The same demand is made of you here. A prediction without a time frame is not much of a prediction; it is a mere guess.

Filmstruck even made it known at the time of their "closure" that they would be back. And they are back as The Criterion Channel, so you are wrong here also. Rebranding is not the same thing as being closed and gone. What they did was not unlike a store doing a major remodel.

At most, you can only claim to have been right on 1 of these 3 things and only by the slimmest of definitions. You simply made a guess with a 50% probability; there was no insight involved. Last I looked a score of 33.33% on a test is a big fat F.

Time to go shopping at a couple of those brick & mortar stores. I am out of Scooby snacks. Can't enjoy movies, at any speed, without my snackies.

Now that it’s been confirmed what some of us knew all along, it’s time for you Digital HD fans to move back to disc. If you are serious about collecting, if you love film and if you have a HT (no matter how basic) it’s time to give Blu-Ray and UHD your love. It’s the only way now, as it looks like subscription will be the other option.

Make the right choice.

RIP Digital HD.

I know you're eager to dance on digital's grave, but I wouldn't lace up your dancing shoes quite yet.

Digital purchases will continue no matter what happens with Vudu, but hopefully the risks of buying into this smoke and mirrors product are becoming clearer. If this is how some people want to spend their entertainment dollar, they should think of their expenditures as nothing more than a lease of unknown length. Their "landlord" can evict them at will.

My digital collection is the result of my redeeming codes that came with my discs, thus I do not feel like I have spent anything for them. They are the little prize found buried in the box of cereal.

Still, I like having remote access to those films that I have redeemed in this manner. I have yet to actually watch one, but having the ability pleases me. I am not going to carry my discs with me when I travel, so I like having this option. There's that word again.

It’s a dead horse. I pleaded with people not to abandon disc because I could see where this was going.

I say to all film fans, take control back! It’s time for Blu-ray to rise like a phoenix from the ashes and claim it’s rightful place on the throne of high quality.

Don’t be blue

Be BLU

Well, flyry posted this little story about Vudu in another thread:

https://www.fiercevideo.com/financia...to-unload-vudu

The last quote at the end of the article is less than optimistic.

“I’m less certain of who the buyer will be than the fact it will sell for a dime on the dollar.”
