He actually had a pretty cool meta cameo in the film Mr Holmes which was another concept film on the opposite end of the age spectrum, playing Holmes in a film within the film.

I wonder what J. K. Rowling thinks of this film. The screenwriter for Young Sherlock Holmes (Chris Columbus) would go on to direct Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, surely she would have been aware of his Young Sherlock Holmes when approving Columbus as director (she turned down Spielberg, who produced Young Sherlock Holmes, because Spielberg wanted to combine the story elements of the first two books into one film).

As for the comparisons to Harry Potter, yes, it's largely set at an English boarding school, but other than that there's little similarity that I can think of. |

I sometimes feel regret about missing potential sequels, but usually it turns out that leaving well enough alone is the better option. Too many times I have been disappointed by the sophomore curse and wish the studio had not gone for the quick buck. This goes all the way back to SON OF KONG, so it's nothing new.

Back when post-credit sequences were a novelty. Now it's funny going to a movie and seeing people scramble for their phones when it ends to look up if there's a PCS so they don't sit there for 15 minutes for nothing.
