Months ago, I purchased CE3K physically on UHD. I redeemed it on Movies Anywhere. All three versions show up as 4K. Fandango Now has the Special and Director's Editions in 4K. iTunes has (what I believe is) the Director's Cut in 4K (though, it might be three-in-one with a version selector). There are others have it as well. But not Vudu. It's HD only there.
Sony seems strange with regards to UHD. For instance, when Moon came out on UHD physically, it redeemed fine in 4K on Movies Anywhere, but Vudu's version of the movie was HD-only initially. It eventually was added. Ghostbusters (2016) is still HD only (everywhere?). I don't get the inconsistency on their part. In the end it really doesn't matter because I have my physical disc of CE3K (and Moon and Ghostbusters) and I can watch the streaming version of CE3K on my AppleTV 4k. It's still annoying, though, to not have the 4K version everywhere. |

Regarding mine, the Special Edition and Theatrical cut did upgrade to UHD at Vudu after a while. It's just the Director's Cut that's still HD only. Maybe you could try the trick where you unlink your accounts and then relink them after a bit to see if you get the boost?

No, they just don't have the UHD versions available in their system. It shows you own UHD but playback is limited to HDX. Same with Ghostbusters. Unlinking won't solve it.

A lot of the Sony movies used to be in UHD, but right before UV shut down Vudu only offered them in HD. Presumably so you couldn't keep the UHD rights. If movies came from the Sony Pictures store, they would need to pass through Vudu to get to Movies Anywhere. I ended up getting new codes from Sony so I could at least keep the UHD rights. I did lose some from other studios though.

But every movie has its own quality and story.

I thought that it was a case of either had the rights or didn't recently some of my uhd iTunes movies appeared in my most recently purchased so they went to the front of the line even though it was purchased awhile ago because they have the uhd rights now.
If your movies are hd only and then suddenly become uhd they have finally got the uhd rights. |

I noticed today that the Director's Cut and Special Edition were upgraded to UHD for me (FINALLY). Theatrical is still not. Looking into my account, it seems the Director's Cut was just upgraded today (June 16th) and the Special Edition got upgraded on June 10th. So, the fact they were not upgraded together, makes me think the Theatrical Edition may still get upgraded.

And now the theatrical edition randomly upgraded to UHD. Finally.
