its' not just games that it needs to be backwards compatbel with, it's hardware too. If gthere's no backward compatibility, I woudl be forced to keep my PS4 and VR headset. There's no way I'm cramming another machine under my TV, and I'm not getting a ps5 if it means losing everything I have on the ps4, espeically the VR. Headset needs to work with the ps5 as well.

One of the reasons I decided against the Nintendo Switch was becuase it lacked backward compatibility with Wii and WiiU games. Admittedly there were a number of other reasons too in it's case.

They certainly wouldn't have a good excuse if the PS5 uses the same sort of architecture.

I think from a cost perspective, the PS5 will be just like the PS4. I think the days of creating exotic chips are over.
