Time to go region free I think.

I see it's $98 at Amazon and $239 at 220-electronics. I assume it needs the conversion from 220-electronics to be Region Free?

Let me know if what you think of the unit. I've posted in a few of these Region-Free BR threads and received no responses at all.

I assume that's where the extra money is going.
If I decide to get it I'll let ya know.

Thanx. I'd be curious whatever you pick. I'm just looking for a Best Buy for the Money Unit.

You might want to check out a similar thread at AVSForum. I use them when there isn't much chatter here.

Hi, all.

I'm looking for a new player and I was wondering if anyone could help. I don't currently have 4K or 3D capabilities, so I'm really just looking for a great, decently priced BD player. Though, you never know, I might get at least 4K capabilities at some point. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest the Panasonic DMP-UB200.

A month ago I'd say get the Sony UBP-X800 but I've had issues with two separate models. Just check Amazon reviews for details.

Anyway as long as you don't mind a single HDMI output, this looks comparable. And you'll have 4k in case you need it in the future.

Does anyone have a region free 4K player to recommend? I am looking for both a 4K player and a region free player, so I figured I'd try to kill two birds with one stone.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hello all ...

I have a Pioneer Elite Pro-1150 Plasma TV. My blu-ray player is a Pioneer Elite BDP-23FD model. Does anybody know if there's any advantage of me staying with a new Pioneer blu-ray player? Or am I just as well off buying any other brand? For some reason I thought the Pioneer products worked best together ... just not sure.

Any player recommendations (Pioneer or otherwise) are always welcome too. I'm overdue for an upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone know of a Region B player I can get in the US? Seems like it would be cheaper to just have a second player than getting or hacking one for region free?

I actually have a Sony BDP-S1500 hacked (similar to pretty much all the Sony players) and it works fine, all you have to do is push the red or blue button to switch from region A to B, or yellow for C.
It cost me around $150 CAD a few years ago.

Unless you buy a lot of apple products (like me) you have to stay there if you want to be compatible, for everything else it doesn't matter.

Thank you for the response. I'm not sure that I understand. What does apple have to do with Pioneer?

Nothing, it was an example because apple are the worst when it comes to compatibility. You can pick any brand you want and itíll be working just fine. Look at my AV equipment in my sig, nothing is the same brand and it works flawlessly. I just have a love/hate relationship with apple but Iím too far in it to turn back!

Cheers!

So what's the general consensus BEST 4K player for overall picture quality for UNDER 200 bucks (I don't give a rip about things like smart features or aesthetics)?
