Well 2/3 of the way through Originial Gundam and...well I jokingly said it couldn't get any worse but it has. Not only does every episode have to have the Gundam save the day (along with recycled stock footage to save production costs) it also has to have a meaningless death now, it's like original Star Trek with the Red Shirts except some of these are multi episode characters. They're almost laughingly bad, pointless, and ridiculous. The military tactics and regulations (I've lost count of how many times someone just leaves the ship then has second thoughts and comes back)also were apparently thought out by an 8 year old with his action figures "and then the ship shoots the bad guys <bang> and the plane comes in <boom>".
![]() At least they finally cleared up the geography, though that made an even dumber plot hole of why when the base is in South America they travelled west out over the Pacific when they first landed in North America. ![]() |

Started 'Paranoia Agent' and am really liking it so far. It has all of Satoshi Kon's strengths in play without any of the things that normally weaken his projects for me. Hopefully he pulls all these strands together in a satisfying conclusion.
I've also dusted off 'Samurai Champloo', a beloved classic that for some reason I never finished watching. So I started it again from the beginning and am quite enjoying it. |

My mother and I started watching Kono Oto Tomare! last night in my theater, a high school drama about the Koto Club. Unfortunately it has a fair amount of that over-bearing, screaming type of humor I so vehemently detest in Japanese anime, enough that I was on the verge of not being able to watch the series. Although, obnoxious yelling aside, the story has been really good, and I love hearing the koto music being performed.
So tonight we finished Season 1, episodes 8-13. Wow, Chika's Aunt he lives with is really hot, I definitely found my waifu for this series, lol! Looking forward to starting Season 2 sometime later this week. The neighbor couple said they will also be coming over one evening this week to finish the last 6 episodes of El Cazador de la Bruja, as well. |

I have been watching/sampling a bunch of anime lately (semi-thanks in part due to J.S.), but for the most part I have been watching Soul Eater, Ouran High, and the original Fullmetal Alchemist (all via Netflix)
The only mild complaint I would really give Soul Eater (at episode 37 rn) is that there are too many damn characters but whatever. Still engaging. Not sure which to call my favorite but Ouran's intro is my current favorite, SE's is behind it (second intro), and FMA's is third (just reached the fourth intro). (Also thanks again to J.S.. Thanks to you, I have finally started Yu Yu Hakusho. Pretty nifty so far.) |

Finished off El Cazedor de la Bruja tonight in the theater with the neighbor couple, we watched the last 6 episodes, 21-26. The third series of the Bee Train Girls with Guns Trilogy was way better than I expected, some really great episodes, and very little humorous stuff, unlike what I thought there was going to be. Pretty awesome, all three of us really enjoyed it a lot - and the Yuki Kajiura soundtrack did not disappoint, either!

Watched a couple episodes of Konosuba via the Crunchyroll section of HBO Max.
They have the English Dub. So far it's pretty darn fun, though it is kinda bad to not get distracted cause Aqua is obviously not wearing panties (and the other 2 girls are nice in their own ways). |

Finished the 1997 Berserk last night and wow, those last two episodes are so dark and depressing. Started the movie trilogy tonight and got through the first. Going to try to watch the next two tomorrow evening. I know its a recap of what I just finished but I am a completist and I heard the third movie is worth watching.

FLCL: Progress - I collected the original Synch Point releases and revisited the series when Funimation released it on Blu-Ray. Progress is definitely a slower series compared to the original in which I appreciate. I love how the first forehead robot has adjusted to human life after being defeated after the first episode. Hopefully, it is building towards something.
