It’s a figure of speech. Like when I call you a dumbass, we all know your ass is not dumb and yes like I said if you had read, it is not for display.

Some notes on the diffs:
  • They are slightly thinner material than the SC2 from steelbook central
  • The protective film you peel off is also thinner and comes off (annoyingly) in pieces instead of all at once like the SC2
  • They are not quite as shiny as the SC2, and do appear to show more scratches at an angle, but the matte-like finish does look nice when viewing it straight-on (the SC2 may also be slightly clearer, but that could be the effect of the shininess)
  • The Cinegrail fit a little better: what I mean is the SC2 can be a bit too snug on some steelbooks, most recent being the Godfathers, while these Ci2 are slightly looser, which allows easier removal (they still fit snug and do not fit a J-card like the SC3)
  • The seam on the Cinegrail is on the top edge, while the SC2 has it on the bottom (with thumb-cutout and back-edge flap on the back for both)

Over the last few years, the SC2 sleeves have gotten tighter on the newer steels. I do not know if this is because the SC2 are using a different material (changed to this shinier, slightly thicker stock around 2020) or that steelbooks are changing, but it is something that has gotten annoying. Because some steels fit just fine, my money is on manufacturing QC on steels getting looser as more are created, and the SC2 thickness increasing, which shrinks the tolerance there. Anyway, I have some that I have had to unfold the back flap to force the book out when I want to watch the movie... Very frustrating.

The Cinegrail has solved that annoyance, so any other difference listed above is secondary to that big benefit for me. Quite simply, I love it. However, if you do not remove your steels, then that may be less of a benefit to you. Without that aspect, especially if you are in Europe, the SC2 are going to continue to be solid.

Hope all that info helps someone.
this helps thanks! So is cinegrail not just US versions of steelbook central? I only found out about cinegrail from SC's twitter mentioning them.

is whatever partnership they had over? or never was? Seeing as how the sleeves are different im confused. I havent gotten any SC sleeves since before the pandemic

If anyone who posts here collects a lot of exclusives (Mana Lab, zeta, Blufans, etc) and would be willing to help me choose the right size protectors for my exclusives, please message me. If we can work something out, I’ll be glad to do something like buy you a free bd or get you an Amazon gc for helping me. Thx.

I would start by looking on steelbook central's site. They have many sizes, and under their "protectors" menu option, they list options for each exclusive you named. Read each description and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for my friend.

Let us know if we can help further.

Yeah, I don't know about any partnership, but I assumed they were the same. However, after purchase I can confidently say they are not. If there is a partnership, it's with something other than sourcing the sleeves. </shrug>

Edit: typo.

Thank you but that just won’t work for my situation. I really need some help and that’s why I’ll return the favor with something nice for whomever is willing and able to help me.

Interesting. Yeah I initially found cinegrail when I saw SC tweet out that US buyers could buy their sleeves there. They had the SC model numbers too. However awhile ago I noticed cinegrail changed the model numbers also..

I havent gotten from cinegrail in awhile either but as long as the quality is good its cheaper than importing.

My last batch of slipcovers (sc2) from steelbook central is about gone so I took a gamble and ordered some of these off of amazon. Anyone ever buy/use from them before?

What's wrong with them? Just crappy is pretty veg. The link you provided isn't a slipcover or is it I cant tell for sure? Slipcover meaning its just the spine side that is open once its folded up.

the link is for the protective covers for sale on ebay that I like best

the ones on amazon are very stiff and tend to be 'bloated'...not shaped right..you have to do a lot of bending to make the covers fit right..hope that helps

I still have a pile from Cinegrail, which look very close to these. As I said before, they were not quite the same clarity or visual quality as Steelbook Central, but they do fit really nice. (slightly less tight than SC's versions) These look to be at the same level. I just placed an order, so I'm going to test them to see if my guess is correct.

I'm always looking for new options on this style simply b/c I do not like the "box" style that is annoying to get at the movie.

keep em minty from punisher's eBay link is the same as Video Game Box Protectors which are incredibly similar to Retroprotection... I've had both and you can't go wrong with either
