I think that Third Man on the Mountain is both more well known and liked (at least by Disney collectors, who I assume are the people who buy the most amount of DMC Exclusives) than things like Rocketman, A Kid in King Arthur’s Court, or Snow Dogs and the Disney Movie Club gave all of those got Blu-ray releases for whatever reason!

If Third Man on the Mountain does ever come to Blu-ray, then I really hope they include the Walt Disney Presents episode Perilous Assignment as a Bonus Feature. Since some of the DMC Exclusives from 2021 and 2022 had Bonus Features, and the episode is available on iTunes, I think this could be possible!

I have Perilous: Assignment, bought it way back in the Disney Movies Anywhere days...

When I say Third Man is one of the more obscure titles, I'm not referring to Walt fans and collectors, I'm talking about general audiences/consumers. I showed it to my niece about 20 years ago when she was about five years old, and my sister watched it with us, loved it and asked, "How come I've never heard of this?" True story...just to show how different two siblings can be.

(No, the Even Stevens Movie DVD doesn't constitute a boxset!)
I'm left wondering if due to recent comments, that might not end up a possibility at some point. I think at the very least we might start seeing older D+ content show up on other streaming services. Hard to say what exactly, but again, Disney is in crisis mode. Anything is on the table.

Anyone thinking Disney+ Originals made by Disney or one of their studios will end up on another streaming service not owned by Disney are thinking crazy. I could see something they made with another company like how they are (or at least were) making a Goonies series with Warner Bros. ending up on another service, in this case HBO. But not anything else.

I doubt Disney's done any new HD masters of things made for theatres in recent years. They appear to just be doing 4K remasters of those. Hence why they did DuckTales: the Movie, The Cat from Outer Space and The Bear and I in 4K not to mention The Black Cauldron.

Personally I think asking for Disney+ Originals on home media is still silly. Is there a need for them? Not yet if you ask me. All Disney+ Originals are safely available worldwide in full and in almost all cases in 4K, many with Dolby Atmos.

Would it be cool to own some of them? Sure. But I dread them likely only releasing things on DVD or Blu-ray when they're available in 4K...

But more importantly is the countless number of things they made for theatres, TV or direct to video that are still not available on Blu-ray or even digital or Disney+. In addition, these are the types of things that even when added to Disney+ are a lot of the time incomplete and obviously not in 4K, some not even in HD. Also these are the things they actually remove from Disney+ and some never return. In Australia they removed Jungle2Jungle back in like January 2020, it's never returned. That's just one example. Obviously it's been thankfully released on Blu-ray (albeit exclusive to DMC) but that's not the point, the point is these things are what they actually do remove so it's more important they get the home media release.

As an example, sure The Mandalorian is way bigger but it's available in full, and in 4K on Disney+ worldwide. Where as Star Wars Resistance is still missing all of its shorts which are basically an entire episode. They are of course only in HD and have next to no chance of being upgraded to 4K. And are way more likely to ever be removed unlike Mando. If Mando was removed there would be a massive outcry and it would damage Disney+. Resistance? Not so much. They removed Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures last year around the world for no reason and re added it in USA and Canada but not anywhere else. So a Blu-ray release of season 2 would be really handy...

In summary, Disney+ Originals are safe, in full and in 4K worldwide on Disney+ as it stands. Other stuff? Good luck with that.

I personally disagree, as someone who has no interest in Star Wars or the MCU (I had Disney + for over three years but I haven’t seen a single episode of THE MANDALORIAN or any of their Marvel shows.) Disney + has been massively disappointing to me between their immensely lackluster selection of vintage content and complete over reliance on Marvel and Star Wars.

I would actually love it if they released the few originals that I enjoyed like The Imagineering Story, Howard, and Mickey: The Story of a Mouse, even if they were just on Blu-ray and not 4K Ultra HD, that way I could still have access to them without having to continue to pay for a service that has been extremely underwhelming to me for over three years now. The only other things I really use Disney + for that aren’t on physical media or digital services like iTunes are The Disney Afternoon shows that haven’t been completed such as Seasons Four to Six of Adventures of the Gummi Bears, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Bonkers.

I for one welcome the idea of Disney+ originals on DVD/Blu-ray.

Let's make it fair though, release them a year or two after they've premiered on Disney+.

Disney loves an anniversary, so I'm surprised they didn't release Tuck Everlasting on BD since it had it's 20th anniversary in October. But this is also coming from the studio that released 10 Things I Hate About You's 10th anniversary Blu-ray just 2 months shy of the film's 11th anniversary, so I guess there's still time.

You miss my point. They are on there. They aren't going anywhere. Where ever you are in the world, if you want to watch them you can safely do so in 4K just by subscribing. Even if you only do it once a year. It's the same with Netflix.

The vintage content is my point exactly. They need to focus on releasing them since you can't get many of them on Disney+ and even when you can they are incomplete, only available in some regions and are a chance to be removed. In addition the difference in quality between an SD stream and DVD is more than a 4K stream and a 4K Blu-ray.

I am simply saying that streaming Disney+ Originals on Disney+ is always way better than other content since they are in full, safely available worldwide and in 4K.

An example for you would be you can safely stream those recent Mickey specials on Disney+ but you can't stream any of House of Mouse and even if they did add it it could well just be SD, only in some regions, be missing content and even be removed.

They don't really care about anniversaries much any more. It's their 100th this year, what have they done?

Same with like timing things in with new releases.

They had so many reasons to finally release Ice Age 1-4, Santa Clause 1-3 or National Treasure 1 & 2 last year on 4K but they didn't despite having them available in 4K for years.

They did thankfully upgrade Enchanted and Willow to 4K last year for their long awaited follow ups but obviously nothing to suggest they will release them for purchase.

Disney needs to give Never Cry Wolf a blu ray release. I wish they would get off their moral high horse about it. Its not on D+ because of some male nudity in the movie🙄. I have said it many times but that 80's Arctic shots in that movie would look fantastic in a blu ray upgrade

A bunch of North American steelbooks don't count, especially when they're literally just reissuing the same discs.

All there is so far is Cinderella on 4K. And even on Disney+ literally the only old things they've added not counting A&E content are Doogie Howser, M.D. and soon Home Improvement (although only in UK as it stands)

The fact that the earliest DMC-exclusive blu-rays were featureless would give them an excuse to release deluxe editions with all previous bonus content, any new scans/cleanups that have been done in the meantime, and lossless audio.
Another thing I’d like them to do is fill in the holes of series/universes where some films have blu-rays but others don’t.
