Friends, Jerry Seinfeld is unbelievably unfunny to me. To the point where every time I see him on TV I cringe.

I used to hate seinfeld as a teenager when my parents used to watch it all the time, now it's one of my favorite shows. I love friends as well but seinfeld is my #1 comedy show. In order of who I find funniest on their shows:

1 - George
2 - Kramer
3 - Jerry
4 - Elaine

1 - Ross
2 - Joey
3 - Chandler
4 - Phoebe
5 - Monica
6 - Rachel

Seinfeld. No lessons learned, no hugs and feelings, just selfish, shallow people who'd happily see each other in discomfort for their own amusement. The Betrayal stands as one of the greatest TV episodes of any kind

Agreed. And the cast & concept of Friends? Just awful dreck, unless the viewer happens to enjoy bad writing about shallow people. But not fun shallow.....that would be Seinfeld, of course.

Loved both, I went with Seinfeld because of the amazing eccentricity of each character. Cosmo, George, George's Boss, The Soup Nazi! just brilliant!

Friends likely easier to watch and higher standard of consistency but a little more formulaic. mmm tough in the end.

Friends is kind of like a Seinfeld-Lite, but I don't think it was poorly written or was awful as many seem to think here. In fact, I think it was quite well written and pretty consistent throughout its 10 years, though it surely did have some missteps.

I like Seinfeld, but I prefer Friends. The Seinfeld characters are terrible people and just aren't too likeable, which is probably what prevents it from being one of my favorites. I know that them being terrible people is kind of the point, and in general, sitcom characters aren't the most pleasant people around, but characters can be terrible people and still be likeable, which is what I feel is the case in say, Arrested Development.

this whole thread is an insult to Seinfeld.

Its not even close. Seinfeld takes the cake.

The Betrayal
The Bet
The Chicken Roaster
The Dealership (Candy Lineup)
The Opposite
The Contest
The Soup Nazi

Too many good ones to remember

As for Friends.....cant even think of one. And I was a huge fan.

I am a huge fan of Friends, I love it.
Any episode I watch makes me laugh and warms my heart: everything I need from a sitcom. But it is true that is nothing special. A normal sit-com, just made very very well.

Seinfeld is not that easy: it's difficult to hit it off with its humorism and its selfish characters. But once you'll get along with all of that, you'll discover a show made of pure genius: my vote goes to it.

There will never be another show like Seinfeld. It was even amazing to see the table read in that season of Curb You Enthusiasm. All the genius was still there between the characters. I love Friends, but Seinfeld was comic gold and never let emotion get in the way of comedy.

100%. Don't forget "The Gum".

I like Friends. It is a well-above average sitcom.

But Seinfeld is classic and I can't think of any show that has more repeat viewing potential than Seinfeld.

My #2 sitcom: Frasier.

Seinfeld, no contest.

Seinfeld re-invented the Sitcom, pushed boundaries.

Friends was a very good/great standard sitcom with a likable cast.
