Looking at the results of this poll, I have to wonder how TB became such a huge hit. The high ratings is what got me into watching TB in the first place.

It's a guilty pleasure show, and people enjoy those. Plus, it's HBO's premiere show during the summer. It's not competing with Game of Thrones in the ratings, and it's also not competing with much of anything on most other networks during that time. This summer it will get its first real completion with Dexter's final season starting up in late June.

But I'm surprised that anyone would have thought this poll would have turned out differently. They're both enjoyable shoes, but Game of Thrones is on a completely different level than True Blood.

I am a fan of True Blood, but Game of Thrones is one of the best shows on TV and perhaps even one of the best of all times.

I disagree with this. If you have to feel guilty about enjoying something, you care too much about other peoples' opinions.

I may care what something thinks about something more important, but I couldn't give a sh__ what someone else thinks of my TV tastes.

TB is still a good show, but Season 3 was it's peak imho.

You're taking the phrase way too literally.

It's amazing how many people like GOT. I, personally, don't think it's a bad show at all. It's just very hard to understand. Like I said, that's the reason why I couldn't get into it. I was lost from the very beginning... Very complex dialogue, so many different things happening and so many unusual character names to remember. But I don't think it's nearly as bad as DEADWOOD. Sheesh, the dialogue there is very poetic, mixed in with 100 F words per minute.

Have go with Game of Thrones, True Blood has been on a systematic decline for a while now.

With last season being a complete failure and disappointment.

Well, I do hope, for the sake of all GOT fans, that the quality remains that way for it's entire run. I mean, MAD MEN was consistently good in its first 4 seasons, but it's last couple of seasons, it has gone slightly downhill.

Haven't seen the sixth season, but thought the fifth was the best yet.

They're not bad, but just not up to par with the first 4 seasons. I think the current season (Season 6) is a little better than the fifth. But that's just me.

After thinking this through, I probably should have made this a GOT vs. Boardwalk Empire thread. The results would probably be more interesting, especially since they're both in their third season and are both at their prime. The thing is, I never watched Boardwalk Empire. But I guess if Boardwalk Empire wins the poll (which I doubt it would), it would probably tempt me to check it out.

Although Boardwalk Empire certainly would have grabbed more votes than True Blood has, the poll still would have been overwhelming in favor of Game of Thrones.

There's probably no show out there that will beat GOT in a poll.

Yeah I have to say Game of Thrones is definitely one of my favorite shows of all time. It seems a lot of people on this forum also like it a lot. Which only adds to my love of this forum. I liked True Blood for about the first 3 seasons, with the exception of the Mary Ann plot which I thought got really old. However, after that I think the show took a horrible dive in quality. With the last season almost being unwatchable to me.
