No contest.
I definitely fear this for future revisits. MWC was a show that I stayed up past my bedtime to watch as a kid and would laugh out loud pretty hard for most episodes. But I'm not so sure if I'd find it as funny today. As for Roseanne, I never watched it but it seems like a show I'd enjoy.

Personally, I find MWC more relevant and humorous the older I get. But I've always enjoyed its dark and sardonic view of marriage and family life. It can be brutally honest at times and I appreciate it for that. But I tend to gravitate to dark humor. For example, my current fave television show is "Louie".

While I enjoyed the early seasons of Roseanne (I think it really captured the zeitgeist of middle class America at the time), as it progressed it became something akin to Little House on the Prairie with Roseanne and her family suffering one hardship after another, after another, after another, ad nauseam.

I agree with this.

Married with Children. The only time I watched Roseanne was for the Halloween episodes.

Married With Children all the way for my sense of humor. Not even close.

Pretty close but for me personally, Roseanne gets the edge overall (though Al & Peggy individually were better than any character on Roseanne)

I liked both shows growing up but give the edge to Married With Children because the latter seasons of RoseAnne, especially after John Goodman left, were not good.
Married With Children's quality dropped off in later seasons as well but not as bad as RoseAnne's did.

Anyway, MWC over Roseanne. Iit's true, MWC morphed into a live action Looney Tunes cartoon over time. However, Roseanne morphed into an up it's own ass dramedy. So I give the edge to Married.

/now, maybe the Roseanne revival will take the edge off those bad final seasons and leave us in a better place, and we can revisit the debate then. But for now... Can I get a "Woah Bundy!"?

it's not even a fair comparison. Married with Children. Al Bundy is a god.... and I never actually laughed at Roseanne growing up. Just never found the show funny

Rosanne. MWC is too juvenile to sit through too much.

Married With Children by a landslide. I did enjoy Roseanne for a time, but MWC is just the best of all time. Nothing juvenile about that.

WOW, weird...I was just talking to my wife about Roseanne a nights ago. I watched both back in the day. I enjoyed Roseanne up until I think season 3. I didn't really like what the show became and how her character basically emasculated Dan. Not to mention how the show ended. I'm really hoping that they move the show back to what made it great with the new episodes. Loved Married with Children, especially when Ted McGinley joined. For once he wasn't the Albatross he was in other shows. He was actually pretty damn funny and I loved when it became more about he and Al's hijinx lol. Still, while I enjoyed both, both might have run on a little too long in the end.

While I adore the charaters in Married with Children, I think Roseanne (the show, duh) aged a lot better. Roseanne it is.

At the time it was Roseanne, now I think MWC has actually aged better.
